'Y/n..what did they do to you?' I whispered, falling to my knees and clutching into the girl.
I knew it was her, from the way her hair falls to the feeling i get when i see her face. I held her in my arms, ignoring the blood which seeped onto my hands. I eagerly waited for a pulse.
'Come on..don't give up on us..not yet' i whispered in her ear.
My tears threw themselves at the girl, rolling down both my face and hers.
I waited.
And there it was. A faint pulse which opened my airway and let me breathe again. I clutched onto her tighter, my knees under me as her body lay over them. I filled over, hugging her and never letting go. 'I-i'm sorry..' I whispered, tears falling onto the grass. 'Heizou! I thought i'd- oh my god' I heard Beidou's voice call out behind me. She rested her hand on my shoulder as she crouched down, just above eye level. 'She-she's got a pulse..' I muttered, not opening my eyes for even a second. 'And that's all we need, come on..let's get her to the hospital.' She tried to help both Y/n and I up, but i couldn't let her. 'No. I can't leave her..i can't..' I held on tighter, afraid of what might happen if i let go.
'Heizou..please. For the sake of Y/n.' She pleaded as i lifted my head up. I picked her up. If i couldn't stay here with her, i'd have to take her myself.
We reached the hospital in Liyue. Beidou calmed me down slightly as the medics took Y/n away immediately. It broke my heart seeing her in that condition. But knowing that she might be okay, mended it again.
'Heizou..buddy wake up.' I heard someone murmur. Looking up, i saw Beidou shaking my arm gently. 'Y/n is in critical condition, but people are allowed to visit. Id thought you would like to be the first?' She asked. Those words were enough to wake me up. 'W-where is she?' I shouted, jumping up from the chair and running to the hall. 'Ward C!'
I sprinted into the room. Nurses side eyed me, but that didn't matter.
I saw Y/n's face. The way the evening glow bounced onto her face. She looked so calm.
My eyes scanned her for injuries. I still had blood on my hands but couldn't care less. She was here and that's all that mattered. I crouched down, holding her hand as she slept. Her breathing already seemed to be stable. I felt so guilty for everything. All of this could have been avoided if i was reasonable.
I felt my eyes droop as the night drew on. Taking one last glance at Y/n, i drifted off.
Y/n's POV
Everything hurt. Each joint, each muscle. Everything. You felt a bright light sting your eyes as they opened. A tight grip on your hand made you feel wary. Where were you? You instantly looked to your left, only to be filled with tranquillity.
Seeing his crimson hair spewed over the mattress made you feel safe.He mustn't have been comfortable, saying he was on his knees while his head and arms rested on the bed. You looked around the room. There were multiple people awake, some glancing at you while some were being attended to by nurses. Relief washed over you as you realised you were safe.
'You're- you're awake? you aren't meant to be awake?' Heizou exclaimed as you looked back down at him. 'Oh how the tables have turned..' You smiled at him, remembering the time when he was in hospital. He smiled at you before calling a nurse over.
The nurse assured him it was alright. You heard her say that the injuries weren't too deep, just enough to send you into shock.
'I kinda saved your life back there~' Heizou smirked. You missed that damned smirk. 'Uh actually, i saved my life.' You corrected him. He laughed before sitting down at the end of the bed. 'Hey! Don't think you're gonna get away with this mess, alright?' You threatened jokingly. A sense of guilt washed out his eyes before they returned to normal. A smile appeared on his face. 'When can we go back home?' He asked the nurse. I could sense the glimmer in his eyes, the one that he lost a few nights ago.
'Y/n, i'm sorry I don't know what came over me. I do really like you, like insanely. And i understand that that may change but-' 'Heizou. It's alright, i forgive you. But, this doesn't mean we are back to before. You gotta work for it, mister.' You smirked at him as he smiled back, letting out a large breath.
'How long was i asleep?' You asked him, changing the subject. 'Less than a day? Can't remember the exact time, mainly because i was asleep..' He pointed before grinning at you. The door opened quietly and you looked up, seeing a very familiar face. 'Y/n, how are you?' Beidou asked, a smile on her face. 'I'm doing alright.' You answered. It was the truth, whatever drugs these doctors put you on sure were working.
You chatted for a while, Heizou staying by your side the whole time. 'Come on then Heizou. Let's give Y/n some re-' You saw the sudden change in expression on Heizou's face. 'He can stay.' You spoke, looking at the crimson haired boy sitting infront of you. He had a wide grin, and Beidou looked as if she was happy aswell. 'Gosh..you two are cute. Still, get some rest.' You smiled at her and she left, waving goodbye.
