Growing Up

'And..done! Another case in the bag!' You played your secret handshake with Heizou. It had been a few weeks since your date, and things were only getting better. You were both completing each case and your feeling towards the detective kept blossoming. 'Let's go get some dango, i mean it is the last day before your birthday~' Heizou ran towards the cart. It had become a routine to get dango atleast twice a week. 'Hey..what's dango milk?' You asked the vendor. 'Oh! I'm glad you asked, the Lord Commissioner introduced it to Inazuma! Care to try?' The man poured two glasses and handed them to each of you. 'Cheers!' Heizou's glass clinked against yours.

The taste was exceptional, the texture ruined it though. Kind of like glue. So many changes had been going on in Inazuma and you had only just noticed. It all seemed that the Traveller, Aether, had been behind it all.

'Right, ready to go home?' Heizou snapped you from your thoughts. His eyes smiled at you. 'Yep! I can't believe it's my birthday tomorrow, you better get me a good present.' You poked his chest and laughed. But seriously. He better.

Everything was perfect. You knew that Heizou's eyes mirrored yours every time you saw him. You had met up with Kujou Sara a few times, and sometimes she was accompanied by Yae Miko. You were aware of their plan to make you two a couple, they weren't great at hiding it. You weren't completely sure if Heizou knew though, it was pretty obvious, right?

Once you reached your shared home, Heizou immediately went to the kitchen. 'You can't look! I'm making dinner tonight!' You smiled, rolling your eyes. 'Fine, but if you burn it, that's on you.' You replied, walking into your bedroom. You changed into comfier clothes.

I took a while, but Heizou finally shouted for you to eat. You walked to where he was calling from and saw two plates of Almond Tofu. 'Oh..my..god.' Heizou gave a smile and ushered you to sit down. 'Heizou this is amazing!' Almond tofu was hard to perfect, and this was his first time making it. It looked good. You took a bite and sighed. 'This is heavenly. Heizou you're amazing!' You exclaimed, making him smile proudly. Heizou loved to see you happy, just as much as you loved to see him happy.

Nighttime drew in and both you and Heizou were chatting aimlessly on the balcony. Mainly about almond tofu, your birthday and, of course, dango. It was your favourite hobby, talking with Heizou. You loved talking about his interests. The way his eyes light up whenever you bring up one of his hobbies. You had a lot in common.

'You look very sleepy, go get some sleep..' Heizou whispered once the conversation had died down.He was right, as always, you were getting tired. 'Alright..good night zou~' You muttered, wiping your eye. You didn't even realise the nickname you called him, but you did see the pink blush paint his face. You ruffled his head before retreating to your bedroom.

Excitement filled your senses as you lay down in your pyjamas. It was nearly your birthday! It was one of those moments when you were tired just before you started to fall asleep, but the moment you actually try to sleep, you feel wide awake.

You couldn't help but think about Heizou. He was all you needed, even after Liyue. You could trust him again, especially after his 3 million attempts to 'woo' you. It was very cute. He was very cute. You also saw where he was coming from in Liyue. You could exactly not address what happened all those nights ago, but maybe with a little more time, you could have. Heizou admitted he was in the wrong.

All you could do now, was wait.

Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

Your eyes opened and adjusted to the light after hearing three pounds out your door. 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!' Heizou shouted, holding a cake. 'Oh my god Heizou it's like seven am..where did you even get cake?' You sat up and Heizou walked toward you and sat down. 'Cmon, it's your birthday~' Heizou took a spoon from his pocket and scooped up a section of the cake. He held his hand under the spoon and fed you the cake. 'That trick never gets old huh?' You said, smiling after finishing the cake. 'Never, now get ready! Your present awaits!' Heizou left the room and shut your door.

You quickly showered and got dressed. You left your bedroom once finished and looked around. 'Heizou where is the present?' You crossed your arms. 'I'm your present~ joking okay joking..follow me!' Heizou smirked at your glare and opened the front door.

He led you to your joint office at the Inazuma Police Station. 'Heizou if you're making me do your work i will not hesitate to stab' Heizou cut you off before you could continue your threat. 'Calm down! Now, i present to you...Heizou's amazing awesome escape room present!' Heizou presented the door with jazz hands. Your eyes lit up and your mouth opened with a wide smile. 'Heizou! You're kidding! Oh my! This is..THANK YOU-' You ran up and hugged the detective infront of you, sending him flying towards the wall. You wrapped your arms over his neck but left a spot for your head in between. Heizou took a moment before returning the hug and wrapped his arms around your waist.

You opened the door and saw chains and intricate lock systems. 'Right, you have to escape to get your real present, alright?' Heizou prepped you. You nodded, barely keeping in your excitement. Heizou knew you so well, it was amazing.

i once again wrote this on the beach

but i had to take a small break because i was genuinely on the verge of tears because i was thinking about how this book has to end

ive enjoyed every part of this and i can't even imagine finishing

i love this story like my own child

but i was very upset over the thought of leaving this behind

anywhos let's not get all down in the dumps

i won't be finishing this for a while, i may not have a lot of ideas but i promise to make it work.
