jane lived since she were 11 with the wheelers, they weren't her real family but they all loved each other like one.

𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚, 1979
It had been three months since karen, jane was admitted. And karen wanted jane to go to the same school and class with nancy.
First day of school in the middle of the school year. Karen dropped the kids off at school and yelled "have a nice day at school" after them before they left.
"Thanks!" Nancy and mike called back, jane just kept quiet and was beyond nervous.
"You don't need to be nervous, after all you still have me" she smiled at nancy's comment and then took her into the school building.
Three days before jane went to school, nancy explained everything to her because she had noticed that, strangely enough, jane had never been to school.
So that jane doesn't stand there completely stupid.
In any case, the first lessons went great for jane, everything went by very quickly and then there was already a break at noon.
"Hey jane you can sit with me and bard" nancy called to jane and she just nodded.
They sat down and started eating "hey jane? Is everything ok you didn't say a single word today?" Jane looked at Nancy who had put on a worried face.
"Umm I'm fine don't worry" when she had spoken she turned to eat her again and said nothing again.
"Hey Nancy can me and Jonathan sit here?" A boy asked the little 12 year old girl.
Jane looked at the two and nancy only answered "yes of course" then they sat down.
"Hey I'm Jonathan and this is-"
"Steve, what's your name? Are you new here? Obviously yes. Where do you come from?"
Steve started bombarding Jane with questions and she didn't really know what to answer, she was nervous and couldn't get a word out of her mouth.
Nancy noticed this and then answered for jane "oh boys this is my adoptive sister her name is jane and yes she i new here" steve smiled and grabbed jane's hand and shook it.
"Nice to meet you" jane nodded slightly and returned a warm smile.
"Is that that sister you were talking about?" Jonathan then asked and jane looked at him and then at nancy.
Nancy nodded with a smile "yes my mom finally said that she can come to school too" Jonathan nodded and started to eat.
Jane was about to eat again but noticed Steve staring at her.
Janes pov
Steve just stared at me instead of eating his food the idiot prefers to stare at me I mean why? do i have something on my face?
"Uhm steve?..." I spoke to him slightly shy and he quickly came out of his vision.
"Huh what??? Everything is ok" then he just started to eat and didn't say another word from him.
No ones pov
The rest of the school day passed quickly and when nancy and jane left, mike and karen were already standing by the car.
The two were about to get to the car until they were stopped by a voice behind them.
"Hey Nancy, Jane! Would you like to meet me and Jonathan at the arcade today?" We looked at him and then at Karen and she nodded.
We turned back to steve and nancy just said "yes we would love to come say at three?" Steve nodded and we just didn't run to the car.
"Sooo you four have a date later?" Karen asked in the car and all that was listening was Mike and Nancy "Uhhhh" shriek.
Jane was just puzzled and asked "what uhm is a date?" Karen laughed and explained and she just said a slight "ew" out of her mouth.
Once home, nancy helped jane look pretty for the meeting.
And at three karen drove the two of them to the arcade.
"I'll get you back at six, have fun" the two nodded and waved her goodbye.
"Hey girls" nancy and jane hear steve call out behind them. They turned to the boys and walked towards them.
"Hey" both said at the same time.
A few hours passed and everyone had a great time together. Then steve pulled jane aside and asked if they could meet up tomorrow during the lunch break and she gave the usual soft "ok" out of her tender mouth.
Steve smiled and before Jane knew it, Jane felt his lips on her cheek for a second and it immediately made her blush.
Steves pov
I kissed her on the cheek and only then realized what I had done.
She blushed and didn't know what to say oh man why the hell did I do that?!
"Uh, see you tomorrow then," I said quickly and ran back to the others.
No ones pov
"Where have you been Steve? And where is- ok nvm" nancy started talking and before she wanted to ask where jane am she came to the others.
"Oh uhm we just talked, nothing important" jane nodded at steve's statement.
After the 'date' as Karen puts it, the two girls were picked up. Arriving at home, the question from before came up again.
"What did you and steve talk about? I need all the details!" Jane didn't know what to say about whether to lie or not. Though she had no reason not to say it.
Janes pov
Nancy looked at me waiting for an answer I mean can I tell you the truth? Why shouldn't I be able to? Nothing wrong with that, after all he just asked if we could meet up? But then why didn't he just say it?
"Um he wanted us to meet up tomorrow during lunch break nothing in particular I guess" Nancy smiled and jumped around in anticipation I was just confused but didn't say anything further.
