The four were now leaving the drive-in, grabbing their bikes from the rack and deciding to walk them out, not wanting to ride on the rock trail that led into the place. It was now 9:30pm, Gwen and Finney loved the movie and couldn't stop talking about it with Robin. Jaeden was so tired he couldn't even think straight. He was completely worn out and needed some sleep, and it was very obvious, even if he didn't want to admit it.
The cars were obviously and easily going faster than the group of four who were walking their bikes to the entrance, the headlights of each car basically leading their way. You could hear the ending instrumental still playing, the credits still rolling on screen as everyone left. Someone, a part of the staff, was probably walking to the station now to turn it off anyways.
As they reached the exit, mounting their bikes and checking all directions to go, right fucking behind them was that van. The same exact van with the white lettering on the side and almost black tinted windows you couldn't see into. Jaeden, now silently freaking out as he looks forward again, pushing off as the others follow, starts to panic. He's beginning to breathe unevenly, his eyes widened.
Robin, Finney and Gwen quickly catch up to Jaeden, seeing his panicked expression.
"Hermoso? Are you okay? What's wrong?" Robin asks "Beautiful? Are you okay? What's wrong?"
"That van. That's four times within a three day span!" Jaeden almost yells, looking back to see the van behind them, "Fucking haul ass, you idiots!"
Jaeden speeds up, the other three following after as they look back, knowing about the numerous story telling about this van from Jaeden. Gwen constantly kept looking back, looking to attach a face to this vehicle but couldn't. Finney and Robin didn't turn around more than once, Jaeden still trailing ahead of them in fear.
The van picked up the pace, actually following the kids as they tried turning corners and speeding through alleyways, but that van was on their tail. Gwen, mortified, tried screaming for help to anyone who could hear or help, in a state of panic and not able to even think with the adrenaline running through her veins. Finney was also yelling for help, knowing the driver knew the situation they were all in.
The four had never peddled so hard and fast before, but they knew they couldn't match the person driving the van. They were a quarter mile from Robin's apartment, so if they kept the current pace, and didn't stop, they should be okay. The apartment was in view, the same balcony shining towards Jaeden, the same place he always dangled his legs off of and watched storms or sunrises and sunsets with Robin.
They all needed the comfort of somewhere safe, somewhere this person couldn't find them, or even get to them. If someone saw four frantic kids running down the hall screaming that someone was trying to kidnap them, they'd obviously get help. They'd be protected.
Robin would've fought the person off but, obviously, he couldn't now, he didn't even know what the person looked like. Plus, he's a child, he knows deep down he can't fight off a fully grown man, but that's not gonna stop him from trying.
Street lamps illuminate their path, up the small incline, onto the sidewalk. They were almost inside. They'd still have to run up to the second floor, find B12, and slam the door shut and lock it, even if the kidnapper would follow them inside.
The four jump off their bikes, quickly shoving them next to the bike rack and running inside, up multiple flights of stairs and their shoes clanging on the metal staircases. Gwen kept looking back, making sure no one was behind her brother as they sped up those stairs. Through one of the windows that illuminated the stairwell, they could see the black van outside, just sitting there when Robin and Jaeden saw it the past day.
Once they barged through the door, they slammed and locked the door, causing Ms. Arellano to spring from her seat. She asks what was wrong, in which the group were just racing back for fun, saying they were going to have a sleepover. Ms. Arellano was fine with it, heading to her room, tired anyways.
The group stumble into Robin's room, deciding to talk about the situation they got themselves into.
"Fuck! We are so fucked" Gwen speaks
"What just happened?" Finney asks, unable to even believe what just happened
"We almost got kidnapped is what just happened, dumbass"
"Should we call the police?"
