September 14th, 1978.

Robin and Jaeden pace around the aisles of one of the small convenience stores around town, grabbing some snacks for later that night. The duo were going over to the Blake household for a movie night, wanting to watch a rental VHS Finney had gotten, The Wizard Of Oz. The boys had never even heard of it, but it was a fantasy movie, so they decided to give it a shot. Gwen, Finney's sister, had once seen it with their mom before she passed, and she said it was good, so why not give it a try?

With the strand of random boys disappearing recently, the trio of boys decided to use a buddy system out of fear of being taken next. It was mostly Jaeden, and a bit of it being Finn. Robin wasn't that scared, thinking he could fight off a grown man apparently. But either way, none of them were really that scared. They didn't think the disappearances were even connected, let alone think that some guy would drag them away in a dirty old van and kill them or something. What's to gain from kidnapping some scrawny, awkward fourteen year olds?

Jaeden skims through the large bags of chips, a small, red shopping basket in his hand, being filled up with other items thanks to Robin. Jaeden turns back to his friend, already looking down at him, watching as he was kneeled down on the floor.

"What should we get for Finney? I don't really know what he likes" Jaeden asks, standing back up to stand next to Robin, looking at the stacked shelves of chips.

Robin skims the aisle, stepping forward and grabbing a bag of Sun Chips. He set it in the red basket with a smile, a hand shoved into his pocket. Jaeden leads Robin into another aisle, grabbing some Kit Kats before they loop around to the cash registers.

Standing there was a middle-aged man with straight, dirty blonde hair that almost touched his shoulders, one length all the way around. Jaeden set the basket on the counter as he pulled out a couple bills, watching the dollar price rise after each item had been scanned by the cashier. The cashier looks up at Jaeden to take the bills from him before he counts them up. He opened the cash register and handed the boy his change and bags.

The duo exit the small store, the little bell over the door jingling as they do so. Jaeden glances back at the cashier through the glass as they approach their bikes, he seems to be staring. Across the parking lot sits a black van with some logo on the side that the teen can't read between the dark and the distance. He feels his stomach do backflips, not the good ones. He had a strange gut feeling with no reasoning as to why.

The boys hop on their bikes after Jaeden put the bags in the basket of his bike. They kick off, headed towards Finney's neighborhood across town.
