The next couple of days went by a little slow. June hadn't heard from Jake, but she also didn't want to reach out, still trying to get rid of any feelings she was developing for him.

She worked on Thursday and it was surprisingly busier than the day prior. After she got off, she went to a few stores in the effort of finding a graduation gift for Sam. He didn't work with her until the weekend so she didn't have to worry about him clowning her for drinking with his brothers, but that didn't keep him from texting her about it.

Sam: "Soooo you know Jake?"

June laughed, shaking her head.

June: "Define 'know'."

Sam: "Well, he asked me about you so you tell me lol."

June sighed and locked her phone, tucking it into the pocket of her jacket as she continued to browse the antique store. There were boxes and boxes of vinyl records in the back of the store and she started to flip through them. After about ten minutes, June felt her phone buzz again.

She pulled it out and sure enough, Sam had texted her again.

Sam: "Your silence is deafening June!!"

June let out a laugh and saw the bubbles of his typing come up so she waited for the second text.

Sam: "You're not fucking him, are you?"

When she read it her eyes widened and she felt her cheeks burn.

June: "Sam! Absolutely not!"

Sam: "Well then what took you so long?"

June sent Sam a middle finger emoji before typing her response back.

June: "You're impatient and for your information, I'm looking for your grad gift you ass."

Sam just sent a heart and she locked her phone again. June took a deep breath before looking through the vinyls again. She was sure he had lots of these already so she was trying hard to remember any that he mentioned wanting before.

She stopped at a copy of "Rocky Mountain High" by John Denver and pondered it for a moment. June and Sam have talked about John Denver on many occasions and she could've sworn he only owned a copy of "Windsong." She tucked the album under her arm and smiled. She spotted another album, this one being by Justin Bieber and she grabbed that one too just to piss him off.

After checking out, June headed to her house. She still lived with her mom, but since her mom and her were close, it wasn't something that June saw as a bad thing.

"Hey mama," June called as she threw her car keys in the bowl by the front door. Her mom, of course, was in the kitchen baking something. She owned a bakery in Frankenmuth and was typically very busy in late spring and the summertime.

"Hey sweetheart! How was your day?" she called from her station and June walked into the kitchen, giving her mom a side hug.

"Good! What did you get up to today?"

"Well, the bakery was pretty busy with all the families wanting cakes for their graduates' parties and all so I talked to a lot of people about orders," June's mother smiled and wiped her hands against her apron.

"Business is booming I see," June stole a cookie off the cooking rack.

Her mom laughed and nodded, "Yes it is. These are just for fun though!"

"Delicious as always," June smiled and her mom winked, "Thanks kiddo!"

"So, I have a coworker's graduation party tomorrow night and will probably crash with Alli if that's okay."
