Christmas Break, the time where everyone goes on vacation with their families except for Steve. Poor Steven Rogers had something else planned for his Christmas Break. Loneliness and needles. Not drugs! These kinds of needles were different. The syringes were filled with this weird blue liquid that made Steve feel all weird inside.

His parents told him that the tests were almost done, but that was months ago. He doesn't think the testing will ever be over. He never asked for this. He was perfectly fine with being a string bean. He doesn't like sports anyway, so what's the point of having super strength if you have nothing to use it for?

Unfortunately, no one could answer that question for him. His own parents barely spoke to him... Or now that he thought about it, were they even his parents? This "parental unit" of his did let German guys run around the house, stabbing him with needles every hour or so. Would normal parents do that? Or were his just insane?

There was always another man there too. What was his name again? Howdon, Howdry, Howard! That's it, Howard. He didn't know the last name, but the first name was definitely Howard. Howard was a lot like Tony, witty, smart mouthed, sarcastic. In fact, they were so much alike, Howard could even be Tony's father!

Steve was so overwhelmed with thought that he didn't even realize he was walking right into Clint Barton. Only the harsh words of his past friend woke him from his zone.

"Yo Rogers! What the hell is wrong with you? Are you high or something?" Clint shouted angrily, picking up the books Steve had knocked out of his hand.

"Sorry, Clint. I was thinking about something," he said quietly.

Clint clenched one fist as if he was going to throw a punch at Steve, but then relaxed. The past few weeks has been a bit tough on everyone. It was weird not having the friends you were so use to hanging with. "It's alright." He turned in the direction Steve was going and patted his back. "Walk with me, Stevie."

Steve's eyes widened when he heard Clint say that. But, he couldn't refuse one of the most popular kids in school. "Sure, whatever."

As soon as the two of them had begun their stride down the hall, Clint began to talk. "I think Tony and Bruce are up to something," he said in a hushed tone.

"Why do you think that?" Steve asked, raising his eyebrows. Tony was always up to something, but Bruce? Usually he stayed out of trouble.

"Nat told me Tony came up to her last week and asked her to participate an experiment," he said, lowering his voice.

"An experiment? You think Tony is going to hurt her?" His lips were parted slightly as he waited in anticipation for an answer.

He shrugged. "I don't know. But if he does... I'll make sure I hurt that bastard back."

"What makes you think Bruce is involved in this?" He couldn't imagine Bruce ever trying to hurt Nat. Bruce wouldn't hurt a fly.

"She said that Bruce came and got rid of Tom before Tony confronted her. This leads me to believe they are working together."

Steve gasped and shook his head. "I hate to believe that Bruce would do anything bad to Nat. I'll talk to him. He isn't a good lier."

Clint shook his head. "No, don't. I'll talk to him. I think I'm more intimidating than you are, no offense."

Steve frowned. "None taken, but I think I can hold my own against Banner. Just let me talk to him. I'll meet up with you last period today."

"Alright," he said with a bit of hesitation. "Meet me right at my locker, and don't be late!" He glared at Steve for another moment before parting from him and heading the other way.
