“Hey rosa..? you here?” I consciously asked as I was entering my own room. “Rosa? Hello?” no one answered, she might’ve gone downstairs.

“Na tila busilak
Maganda’t may bangong bumabalimuyak

Kung ako’y pipitas ng isang bulaklak
Ang pipitasin ko’y
Mayumi’t marilak, paputi ang kulay
Na tila busilak
Maganda’t may bangong bumabalimuyak”

As I heard the singing, I decided to look for the source. The sound led me into the entrance of Casita. There I saw Rosa singing while her Primo played a record player with its melody. The others who were there were swaying their heads along with the song.

I silently watched them bond from a far, I already knew Dolores heard me walk here. As I thought about that, I noticed her look towards me. She gave me a wave as a sign to join them. I couldn't decline now, the others also noticed my presence.

So, I walked there, gave everyone a small sign. The only open space was near Rosa, if I don't take the spot, I might as well sit on the floor.

They continued to sing, until Tía Dorothy came and called her children to help her with "gumawa ng champorado at hot chocolate na puro" ? Whatever that means.

"What did she say?" I asked

"She asked us to help make champorado and pure hot chocolate." Rosa explained. I nodded in response, Dolores came up to me after Rosa left. "Camilo, you should help them. I heard that the 'puro' hot chocolate is really good, you might get a free taste." She started, adding a tease in the end. "And plus, it might help you become closer with Rosa again." She added and left. I muttered a ' I'll try to help, and thanks ' knowing she'll hear me.

I walked towards where they were called, aka their house. When I arrived, the door was open. So I just went in, BUT I did knock once.

Rosa was at the counter, doing a sketch as she was waiting for something. I looked over her shoulder, to see what she was drawing. It was a rose, as expected. She is very much addicted to roses, you can tell by her clothes and designs.

"What are you doing here Camilo?" She asked, as she noticed my presence. "Just curious about what Tía asked you to do." I swiftly answered as I moved slightly away from her.

"Mama just asked me to make hot chocolate with the pure cocoa she bought." She explained, and I nodded in response.

"Well, can I help you then?" I offered, "I don't know Camilo. Don't you have any other things to do..?" She replied, unsure of my offer.  "I'm free! No babysitting tasks!!" I assured, she sighed. "Fine then, the water is still heating up."

"That's it? It's done? Thay easy??" I gasped, it was so easy and quick.

"Yes Camilo, now add the milk if you want a less strong taste. It's like champorado but without the sticky rice." My mind quickly yelled ' drinkable food ' as she explained.

She turned around, and I already had a cup ready for me. "Alright, here's a cu-" she cut herself as she saw I already had a cup full of it mixed with milk. "O- okay.. well then try it." She continued.

I took a sip, but it was a big mistake. My tongue instantly burned, from the hot substance. I yelled getting Rosa and Jheric's attention who was sweeping the floor in their living room.

"ANO NANG YARE JAN!!" Jheric exclaimed. "Malay ko ba" Rosa exclaimed after him, " Camilo, what happened- ah. Got burned."

Then she hit the back of my head "tangina mo, di ni mo hinapan. Dapat alam mo na mainit yun. Hay nako Camilo. Masyado kaseng excited tumikim." She scolded. I even heard a few 'tsk' from her. Disappointed? Yes, I think she was. worried? I CAN'T TELL SHE LOOKED SO MAD.

"Just go to Tía Julieta Camilo. She'll help, oh and also, Bring some of this to them." She said in a very disappointed but worried tone? I nodded to her and took the hot chocolate she was offering, and left their house. With a burning tongue.

"Tía!! I need some of your arepas" I yelled whimpering as I entered our Casita.

"Iyo Mijo, what happened, your tongue is burned is it? You can't even yell properly. What did you even eat or drink, and why did it cause your tongue to burn. Ayo.." she scolded as we walked into the kitchen.

"Here eat this, and feel better. And what is that you're holding?"

"Rosa gave me some hot chocolate, I drank some, but it burned my tongue Tía." I explained

"You should be more careful when drinking hot drinks. Just because it wasn't hot when you're holding it, doesn't mean it will be the same when you drink it. Now look at your tongue, burned. Hay Mijo."
