Chap 21

Keith was in the garden with Eloise, finishing the plans of decorations, he had to send them all the next day to the king, after verification by Ash. He hoped that he would validate definitively the designs, that would spare Keith more work. These last three days he had not stopped, he had to catch up with the delay he had taken while being with Isaac and that had exhausted him. But he was quite proud of the furniture and floral arrangements that he had come up with.

"Keith, can you hand me the pruning shears, please ?" Eloise shouted from a tree.

Keith went to the toolbox next to the stairs and rummaged around for a second before pulling out the famous object. He tossed it in Eloise's direction.

"Eloise, can I ask you a question ?" Keith asked thoughtfully.

"Of course !" said Eloise, smiling.

"Do you have any more information about his majesty Isaac ?"

"Why do you want to know more about them ?"

"I don't know, he's a Dolce after all, there are bound to be things to say, right ? So I'm curious"

"Hmm, yeah. Okay, I know something.  I'm saying it because it's you." Eloise said, looking at Keith.

He wondered how much Eloise knew, but he was willing to take in any little information about Isaac, after all, he didn't really know him.

"Isaac Baroni is the only son and descendant of the Baronis and he is a Dolce."

"Yes I know that and then ?"

"Well, you know... They make them do a lot of tests about vaccines and medicines."

"Yes"

"And while doing these tests they discovered that apparently Isaac Baroni has a chromosomal abnormality and can't have children. Can you imagine a Dolce, they're supposed to have perfect DNA but he doesn't." Eloise laughed.

"Are you sure about this ? It's not just like everywhere else where the fertility rate is low ?"

"No no, it is in addition to that, it's a true anomaly. Ah ah, Incredible !

The king and the queen must be so frustrated, the end of a so prestigious lineage." 

Keith found it strange that a Dolce has such a genetic anomaly, it was very rare they were normally perfect, it is thanks to them that we heal people and that we help to restore the fertility rate.

Ash was checking Keith's work while Keith waited anxiously on the side.

"Okay, well, we may have to discuss the ballroom again, but I think we can send it to his majesty Iker Baroni.

Keith you did a great job, you have a remarkable talent anyway."

"Oh, thank you very much." Keith replied with an embarrassed smile.

He could not get used to compliments, especially those made on his passion.

"By the way, I almost forgot." Said Ash while searching in his office before taking out a letter.

"It is from his majesty Isaac Baroni and you will not work tomorrow afternoon.

I will need you to come at 9:00 am for the meeting with His Majesty Iker though.."

Keith felt his heart race, he was intrigued by the contents of the letter and especially by the idea of seeing Isaac again.
