Byleth made it outside, but knights and guards were everywhere, blocking his path and getting in his way. If he wished to escape... he knew deep down he would have to fight. And fight, he shall.

Byleth grabbed out his blade and would strike. He would kick and knock down guards, clash blades against blades, but never killed anyone. He spared each one of their life. For he hadn't the heart to kill those he shared cherished times with.

Eventually he noticed the gate closing. He managed to slip through right before it shut for good, and he ran deep, deep into the forest. And never, did he dart an eye back.

Never looking back, he ran down hills and slopes, nearly tripping in the process. He ran for his life. Even if there was nothing much to live for now.

Sothis was right... he doesn't know how to properly protect his life because he's never valued it the way he should.

But more than before, he lacks the motivation to protect it. Why protect it when everyone he held dear has turned on him? Betrayed him? Treated him like a monster. Never appreciated everything he's ever done for them? Abandoned?

Even if he doesn't know how to protect or value his life the way a person ought to, he at least knows how to fight, run, and survive. He's never been on his own... but he must if he regains the will to live.

As if to suit the atmosphere and mood, rain poured down hard in the area surrounding the Monastery. Every knight was searching for Byleth not only within the Academy walls, but outside as well.

Some believe, despite Byleth slipping out, that it's very well possible that he slipped back inside the walls without a soul noticing. But one does not simply slip past Garreg Mach's loyal knights and guards.

Eldegard stops in her tracks within the walls of Garreg Mach Monastery's Academy and silently gazes up at the rain as it plops down on her face.

She flutters shut her eyes as great sadness begins to overwhelm her. She is only willing to reveal this side of her to the rain. In the rain, nobody will tell.

I wish... things didn't have to be this way.

Mud was soaked on Byleth's boots, water drenching his whole body. He had tripped, fallen and ran very far from the Monastery in hopes of survival. But why exactly does he hope to survive...? What is it he is living for? He lives for nothing... so... why does he struggle?

This is the same repeating question Byleth continues to ask himself. But at the end of the day, the same question remains unanswered. He does not know... as to why he continues to struggle. What force keeps him moving forward? He had not the slightest clue...

Eventually, becoming weary, Byleth gives in to his exhausted body, and he plops himself down on a grassy hill top and he sadly gazes ahead at the many trees, hills, mountains, and then from a very far distance away, behind the hills, and behind the mountains, there stood the Monastery.

The Monastery... it was the place he was forced to come to know as home once he and his father were escorted away from the village he was raised in his whole life.

The village... after the bandit attack, how was everyone? Many houses and store buildings were burnt pretty good. Was everyone recovering well? Did anyone die...?
