The following morning Byleth and Edelgard were given an audience with his majesty, Andragoras III. But they weren't just by themselves. Two guards each stood close to the king as he sat on his royal throne, and Daryun was accompanied with the two outsiders.

"Daryun, care to explain who these strangers you are presenting me with are?" Andorgoras demanded. He wasn't sour, but he did have a look on his face like he wasn't in a pleasant mood. Perhaps the king wasn't in the mood for idle chatter and wished to actually get other matters finished.

Daryun was afraid of this, but this matter itself was rather important and Daryun felt it needed to be addressed to the king of the events that occurred the day before and who these people were. Afterall, they are wishing to stay a while in the castle walls. It would do no good for a king to not be aware of strangers camping out here.

Part 5

"Your highness, yesterday evening Prince Arslan was captured and threatened by a slave." Before Daryun could say anything more the king laughed but without a smile. "A mere slave is nothing."

"With all due respect you majesty, a mere slave that is armed is something." Daryun argued. "His highness was rescued by a young boy about his age. These are the boys' parents." Daryun gestures towards Byleth and Edelgard.

Half of what Daryun said was true. While Daryun did help save the two kids, if Rickon did not take action and pursued Arslan's kidnapper, the worst could have come into play.

"Hmf, then you have my thanks." Andorgoras had no choice but to give his thanks. Arslan in years to come is indeed supposed to become the next heir, afterall. And saving the life of royal blood was no small feat.

"So what do you want? Is it money you're after? If so you can have it then." Andorgoras was prepared to have one of his servants go fetch some gold and offer the two individuals. But Byleth dismissed this offer.

"That won't be necessary."

"Oh? Then what do you seek?" The king had never before seen someone turn down his offer for gold before. This had turned rather interesting to the king.

"What we seek is a home, away from our homeland. We have yet to make up our minds to stay here in Pars since we have only just arrived. If it is fine with your majesty, may we stay in castle walls until we've made our decision? We really haven't anywhere else to go." Byleth tried wording his words as carefully as he could. But he knew what he said surely did sound bizarre coming into the king's ears.

"What right do you-" The king was about to turn this down flat and bark at the two to simply rest in the slums. But then, Daryun raised his hand, wishing to have permission to speak.

"Your majesty, one other thing. This family is of royalty." Daryun spoke up. "Royalty?" Andorgoras eyed the two in observation. The lady had wealth viewed in her attire. However when it came to the clothes the man wore, he looked like a lowly commoner in the eyes of the king.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Edelgard Von Hresvelg. I come from united Fodlan. This is my husband, Byleth."

"Royalty you are then. I've heard of your kingdom. And here you say you wish to find a home? Why did you leave the throne and your kingdom behind?"

"We wish to see the world for ourselves. Explore the different cultures and way of doing things." Edelgard tried to explain. Both her and Byleth didn't really have plans on returning to Fodlan, however, they were still interested in learning much about the world.

"So you were royalty but hand over your throne for the life of mere travelers? What folly." The king spat. "Your majesty, with all due respect, this family did help save your son's life-" Daryun reminded.

"Silence!!" Andorgroas glared down at Daryun. Daryun kneels down before the king and begs forgiveness. Daryun was aware he did speak his mind a bit too much even around the king. And the king did dislike this.

"Fine. Your family can stay here within castle walls until you've made up your mind on what to do next."

"Thank you for your highness, we are grateful." Byleth bowed his head in gratitude.
