I want you all to myself
His words played like a broken record in her head. "All for a hero?" When has she ever done anything for a hero?
First time for everything. There were a lot of firsts happening in the dorms tonight. Y/n had mysteriously withdrawn to her room and ceased to come out even though she could very well do it.
Being the kind and loving person he is, midoriya decided to be the one to check in on her. He also needed an excuse to ensure she wasn't severely hurt because of him.
"Y/n?"
He called out, but it only echoed back to him.
There was a sharp inhale. The metal walls reverberated the quiet sound through the basement until it rang in his ears.
"Y/nnn?"
He called once more. This time there was an answer. Well, more like a grunt. But it worked for him. Any sign of her was good enough at this point.
"C-Can I help you, Izuku?" Completely forgetting about nicknames, well, it alarmed him, to say the least. After their incredibly recent encounter with Toga, he was on his guard for any sign of the LOV.
He peered his head around the corner to see his newfound friend (?) sitting on the floor in obvious discomfort. Midoriya immediately rushed to her aide, quickly noticing something amiss.
More particular, a missing piece of her body."Y-YOUR ARM?!"
It sounded a lot calmer in his head."No..." She inhaled sharply once more, "biggie."
Once again, with a calm demeanour, she quickly opened a bottle of pills with her one real arm. Just as fast as was to open the bottle, he was to close it.
Pushing aside the need to ask her a million questions, he really did want to help. "May I?" Gesturing to her aching shoulder, he held a completely innocent and genuine look as he always did.
No one had ever offered to help her with this, let alone without making it a big deal. She knew he was holding in his questions and nodded slightly in approval. Still, however, wary of his presence behind her.Midoriya slowly massaged his coarse and damaged fingers across her shoulder. Just as he undid every knot, she could feel the lines of scars on his hands. They silently analyzed each other, simply appreciating the presence of the other as well.
Finally, she decided to break the silence. Not because it was awkward or uncomfortable. Actually, it was quite the opposite. Which villains did you know to strike up a conversation with unless they were comfortable with you?
"So, broccoli," Midoriya was relieved to hear the nickname. "How'd you learn how to do this?"
Although he appreciated the prompt for conversation, he was somewhat embarrassed of the answer.
"I, um, learnt how to do it because of... uh, Kacchan—"
"YOU MASSAGED BAKUGO'S ARMS?!"
"IT WAS ONLY BECAUSE OF HIS QUIRK, I SWEAR!"
Bursting into a fit of laughter, she regrettably leaned away from his touch. He didn't know what else to do except laugh, either. They eventually calmed down, but not after a few sly smirks from the villain to make him feel even more embarrassed.
"S-Speaking of quirks—!"
Here it comes.
"I was w-wondering! Well, I was wondering a few things actually." His voice began trailing off as he rushed to get his pen and notebook handy. It was one of many he had gone through, but she could see a few pages sectioned off for information about her.
"It happened many years ago, in an escape mission from a company we were investigating. Yes, I can still use my quirk out of it. It's been specially made to receive signals from my brain just as any old arm would." She assumed those answers would suffice. But to Izuku Midoriya, they barely scratched the surface.
"You're going to ask why it's the left arm, right?"
Now that made him stop. No one had ever, ever predicted his questions. Maybe All Might, but he barely counted as normal. It made his eyes shine, his heart race and his hands shake. It... terrified him.
But even worse?
He loved that feeling.
"I'm left-handed. Or, I used to be. It was a rescue mission as well, so when I tried grabbing my friend, it was crushed in the process."
He felt bad scribbling it down, but he did it nonetheless. With a firm shut and no more questions he could bare to ask, that was the end of that.
"Thank you." He smiled and she smiled back. It caught him off guard for a moment, but he decided not to mention it. They both knew it was her way of showing just as much gratitude.
"Need any help putting that thing back on?"
"Please."
bonus
Todoroki and Bakugo listened close by to the conversation of their green-haired friend and the villain. It was safe to say they knew much more than he did.
Or at least, they were willing to accept it.
