We cheated and used the motor to chug on around to the other side of the island. We could probably have managed to sail with just the two of us but that would have been a bit stressy and would have meant that I wouldn't have been able to snuggle into him as we chugged along. We certainly didn't want any crew with us for that particular trip! We would come back to collect them from 'The Big House' when the time came for us to sail back to Florida...
Back home to Florida... my new home... Daniel had another nine months in Michigan - so I would get to experience the weather up there first hand - and then he would be moving to the head office in Florida!
Before too long, we arrived at the lovely little cove with its white sand where we were completely cut-off from the world. We dropped anchor and, for a few minutes, we just held each other.
"So," Daniel said at last, "we've time for a quick swim before sunset!"
"Oh gosh!" I said. "I still haven't managed to sort out a swimming costume!"
He just exploded with laughter. "That, my darling wife, no longer matters."
And I had to laugh too. I suppose he was right.
In a way, I was glad that I had spent most of the last year lounging around with my sisters with no clothes on. I mean... it didn't make it exactly comfortable to undress with my shiny new husband watching me... but at least my head didn't explode at the thought.
And when I got to that frilly, wispy, almost-not-there underwear, the effect was electric. He turned bright red - almost as red as me - sat up straight and his mouth pretty much fell open. "Very nice!" he breathed. "Very nice indeed!"
It turns out that Madam Pembridge was right, after all!
And I could just hear her words in my head, 'It's almost as if I had done this sort of thing before!'
When I was done, I desperately wanted to just run away and dive into the relative safety of the sea but I forced myself to just stand there, totally starkers, and watch him as he did the same.
And it was a bit of a shock as he kind of burst out of his boxers but at least, from Madam Pembridge's lifelike models, I roughly knew what to expect.
Yes, I know, Gloria! 'It's almost as if....'
And, when he was totally starkers too, we walked to the side of the boat then, hand in hand, we jumped into the sea!
Those days were perfect. There was nobody else in the world as I learnt how to snorkel... and how to catch fish... and how to roast the fish we caught on a fire we built with driftwood on that perfect white beach.
But, most of all, I learnt that, whilst my tension relief sessions with my sisters had been very nice indeed, the real thing was even better.
