"You are being sentenced to 12 years imprisonment with hard labour." The judge gave his final verdict, hitting the gavel on the sound block.
A tear rolled down his cheek as his mother cried. "Tell them you are innocent, tell them you didn't do it." She begged him amidst tears, pulling him by the hem of his polo.
He gave his mother one last glance. "I'm sorry." His tears rolled again.
They didn't fall for guilt, he wasn't really guilty but then, he was.
He didn't tell them what happened, he just took the blame and throughout all of his trial, he only had these words on his lips. "I did it. I killed the love of my life."
Let's go back to what happened.
***"A poet will never break your heart." Her soft voice floated over to him.
For the space of a held breath, he looked at her tenderly."Then say me a poem." He quirked
"I promise you forever
Whenever and wherever
That as we turn older
I'll make you feel younger
I'll love you, everyday better
This is a promise from me to you."She stared at him, dazed with emotions. In her eyes her genuine love lies. "I love you." She said next
He kept a straight face and blinked. "I love you…but as a friend." An outburst of laughter filled the air. Obviously, it was just him being a joker.
"Really?" She threw her hands in the air, faking a frown. "You had to ruin the moment?" She threw weak punches at him.
He tried blocking those punches as he ran around the room and finally falling on the bed.
Temi wasn't stopping anytime soon. She climbed on him, picked a pillow by his side and playfully hit it on his face."Say you love me, big head." She laughed
He raised his masculine hands and rolled her over. He snatched the pillow off her hands.
"I won't."
He hits her with the pillow playfully. It was supposed to be a harmless play.
So, he covered her face with the pillow, while she giggled. She was enjoying the thrill, loving how they played but suddenly. She ran out of air.
She struggled to gasp for air but the pillow above her face restricted any form of air flow.
She tapped on his shoulders, wanting him to stop. He laughed. "I'll take it off at the count of 8!"
As he counted, she tapped on him. Squirming to get off her captor's grip. But before he could get to 8, she had stopped breathing. Her hands fell to the side immediately he got to 7 and at 8 he finally removed the pillow.
"I love you." He finally said
But the eyes staring back at him weren't moving. Although they looked moist like she had cried. He became alarmed. He cupped her face. "Hey, I was only joking. You know I was." His voice was breaking.
All attempts to make her breathe again were rendered useless for she had died in the struggle.
