After a few hours of serving customers and restocking, Tony walks upstairs.
"Valentina? Could you help me with some Spanish?" He asks.
"Why do you ask?" She questions him.
"So he can talk to his girlfriend." I tease him.
"Shut up." He shoots at me. I chuckle.
"You met a girl?" Valentina asks.
"Right? It's about time." I say.
"Weren't you making out with Riff this morning?" Tony asks.
"Shut up!" I say.
"Tony, I would but we're not closed yet. We still have work to do." Valentina says.
"I know. But I can do it while you teach me. I can wrap the coins up and learn at the same time." He reasons.
Valentina looks at Tony, contemplating on whether or not she should help him before nodding.
"Okay. But you better pay attention. Selena, you help." She says. We all sit ag the booth, and Tony takes out a notepad and pencil. We put some coins away before Valentina starts teaching.
"Okay, so what do you want to know?" She asks.
"Just a sentence or two. Like...'I'm happy to see you again'."
"Me allegra verte de nuevo." Valentina says. Tony writes the words down, and puts some more coins away.
"So, who are you happy to see again?" She asks. Tony smiles, and shakes his head.
"Okay, last one. 'You look beautiful'."
Valentina chuckles, "¿De verdad?"
"Mhm." I say.
"¿Una puertorriqueña?" She asks. Tony looks up at her and smiles.
"I wanna do like Doc, find me a Puerto Rican girl." He says. Valentina shakes her head.
"Ay, you two don't have enough troubles?" She asks us.
"I don't wanna jinx it, but maybe I'm done with trouble." He says.
"You are never done with trouble. Nunca." She says.
"Nunca. Nunca means Never?" He asks.
"Yeah." I say.
"What's 'forever'? Like, 'I wanna be with you forever'."
"You don't want to start, maybe, with 'I'd like to take you out to coffee'?" Valentina asks. I chuckle, accidentally snorting.
Tony pushes me jokingly, "Ew! You little pig! But, come on, tell me."
"Not, 'I wanna take you to Chock Full o' Nuts for a cream cheese sandwich on a raisin bread'?" Valentina suggests.
"This ain't casual like that." He says.
"Oh. Okay, 'I want to be with you forever'. Quiero estar contigo para siempre." Tony writes it down on his notepad.
"Siempre?" He asks.
"Siempre. Forever." Valentina tells him. He smiles and we finish putting the coins away. He grabs his jacket and puts his notepad in his pocket.
"Where are you going?" I ask.
"I gotta go meet up with somebody. I'll be back in an hour or two." He says. That's when I look at the clock and see that it's almost two 2 PM.
"Say hi to Maria for me." I say. He turns around, and walks up to me.
"How do you know about that?" He asks.
