chapter 5

The boys walk back the way they came with comfortable silence. It was getting a little dark as the sun set so many times they stopped walking to admire the colours of the sky.

At one of these stops will sparked a tiny conversation. "It was really fun to hang out with you," will said looking over at Richie, who was standing beside him. "Thank you, it was nice to hang out with you too" Richie responded with a smile forming on his face. "Do you want to hang out at school? I could help you find your classes and stuff" will offered. "Sure, that would be great" Richie accepted.

They finally made their way to the front of the Byers house where they departed ways. Richie walked to the other side of the road and let out a sigh, not of sadness or frustration but of happiness. He made a friend in only two days of being in California. But a part of him felt the sadness of the other boy.

It was clear he cared for his dear "Mike" and for him to be bluntly brought to the realization that Mike doesn't care for him the same way, could only hurt, and he felt even worse knowing he was the one who brought him out of the oblivious state.

Will walked into his home and passed his mother in the kitchen doing the dishes. He started up the stairs to his room, the second room on the right. Sadly, he has to pass Jane's room to go to his, and the sound of mikes voice from earlier played back in his head. Tears form in his eyes as he remembered what Richie told him.

He knew In the back of his mind that getting over Mike wasnt going to as easy as it seems. He liked Mike, no, he loved Mike. He always has, But the only thing it brought him was shame, and a reason to hate himself.

Needless the say the boy was sobbing once he reached his room. He then climbed onto his bed. The bed where he had cried to a stranger hours earlier. He pulled the blanket he had on his bed over his head and laid there, weeping, till he fell asleep.
