chapter 8

The boys started down the road towards their houses, it was silent but it wasn't awkward, it was a nice silence. Suddenly it was broken by Richie. He had stumbled over a rock on the side walk. "How the hell did you trip on that!?" Will said grabbing his stomach in laughter. "I don't know!" He defended himself, staring at the other boy. "If you keep that up then it's going to be a long walk home" will smiled at Richie. Richie smiled back, not out of courtesy, but that he was happy he made will laugh. A genuine, heart warming laugh.

They walked and talked about school, their classes and who've Richie has met. Apparently the girl Richie saw, her name was Beverly. Richie thought back to Derry, and the losers. He missed them dearly and would probably sell his soul to see them but he liked it here in California too, with William.

A few minutes later they came up on a gas station, will had money on him so he went in to get them a few drinks considering it was a 5 mile walk from school. While will was inside Richie found himself sitting on the curb patiently waiting. As he zoned out a woman, who looked like a tweaker, walked up to him and sat beside him.

"Hello" she said as she rested her arms on her legs. "Hi" Richie replied. He wasn't intimidated by the woman but she was a little unsettling. She was like a crow in a crowd of doves. She was an odd one.

"Why aren't you in there with the boy?" The woman asked, looking over at the boy with a confused look on her face. "The boy? You mean will? I don't want to go in there, gives me anxiety. " He told her, wishing the conversation would be over soon. "Oh okay then." She said as she lit a cigarette.

They sat in silence until will came out of the corner store's door. Richie got up and walked over to will, looking in the bag will was carrying. Richie noticed two blue gatorades and some gummy worms.

"They didn't have much to choose from, sorry." Will said looking at Richie who had grabbed his gaterade already. "It's fine, no worrys." Richie said.

For the next few blocks they walked in silence, both calmed by the sound they're steps made as they walked and each other's breathing. "Who was that lady on the curb?" Will asked, looking back towards the store. "Some random tweaker, she tried to talk to me while you were in there." Richie said unnerved. "Oh, she seemed kinda weird if I'm being honest." Will said scratching the back of his neck. "Yea she was, but I doubt we'll ever see her again so don't stress about it." Richie said patting will on the back softly.

Will felt warm when Richie touched his back, like and over all warmness and his stomach turned also. He didn't know these feelings well but he knew he had felt this way for mike at several points in his adolescence. Will tried to almost shake the feeling away when he noticed he still felt Richie's hand on his back but Richie was no longer touching it. Will felt scared for a moment. Scared that he might have this disgusting feeling for another boy besides mike.

Sorry for the short chapter, I kinda left the fandom a while ago but with the sudden traction this has been getting I thought that I should at least try and finish this book for you guys. i don't have many ideas for the next few chapters I need to finish before I get to the juicy parts so I'm sorry if it takes a while for new chapters.
