This idea came to me as I was playing Miitopia on my 3DS (classic, don't judge me. I haven't bought the one for the switch just yet.) Anyways, this takes place before the first team is taken, if you understand then great. If not, this is just what happened during one of the many quests you play through.

~~~
Go out for a walk, they said. It would be fun, they said. Be a hero, they said. Save the princess's face, they said. No, that walk did not end up being a twenty-minute walk. Hell, he wishes it did. Not that he's ever said that about walks before. No, that walk was not fun at all. Still isn't. He needs to invest in better boots, he's wearing these down to the bare sole. No, he doesn't want to be a hero anymore, his feet hurt; his mana is low, and everything aches. Save the princess's face, sure, when it's not on the body of a General.
Alas, it is.
Now, Ink and his crew must fight said General to release the princess's face. Fun. Sure it is. At least Ink has his friends with him in this battle. Blessed friends, something he hadn't had before. His old village all thought he was weird. Nothing would make it better than the team that seems to understand each other. Which they all do. They're all friends willing to fight for each other. And that's all Ink could ask for.
"Heal, Ink!"
Ink almost collapses as the healing spell from Dream covers him. He can feel his wounds mending and the pain fading away. He nods to Dream with thanks. He owes Dream an MP Candy later. Or maybe a new staff. For all the healing Dream's been doing for the team. Ink looks at Blue with a nod. Blue nods, nudging Dream with a smirk.
"Watch this!" Ink rolls his eyes at the obvious show-off as Blue rushes towards the General, jumping high and slashing down as hard as he can. "Jump slash!"
Dream giggles as he twirls a bright blonde curl around his finger. "That was amazing, Blue."
Blue flushes, rubbing the back of his neck. "Jee, thanks!"
Swap gags, pushing a piece of dark blue hair out of his face before turning to Ink. "Gross. Watch this, Ink." Swap rushes towards the General, dodging a punch. He jumps and spins tightly, landing a deep strike on the General, breaking open the armor. "Spin slash!"
Swap slides back next to Ink with a roar of laughter and Ink chuckles. "Don't find too much pleasure in violence, Swap. That's not very heroic." Swap rolls his eyes. "But that was great, just the opening I need. Thank you, boo."
Swap flushes, deep sea blue eyes widening as he gulps. He lowers the eye guard with a dopey smile. "Heh, t-thanks."
Ink winks before calling forth his mana into another attack. He angrily glares at the General before a ring of flames surrounds him. He focuses on his attack before launching it. "Fire blast!" He grins as it lands. He throws his arm into the air with a whoop. "Let's go!"
Swap goes to compliment before noticing that the body hasn't poofed. His eyes widen as he watches the General get up again. Blue notices it too, drawing his sword closer to his body, ready to tank a hit again. Dream doesn't notice it either, too drained to do more than just get off the ground. Swap watches in horror as the General targets Ink for an attack.
"Watch out!"
Ink turns to see Swap jump in front of him. His sky blue and golden eyes widen in horror as Swap is sent flying into the wall. Blue and Dream scream out to their teammate, not able to do much as they're too tired. Ink watches as the General seems to stop for a moment, his gaze trails to Swap. His roommate. His friend. His closest teammate. The one that's been with him almost from the beginning. The one that has kept him company and has been his support. The one that trained with him. That laughed with him. That danced with him. The one that gave him the silver ring that sits on a chain around his neck. He had winked at that moment.
