"Why in the bloody hell did someone list all of Lockhart's books here?"-Jay Callo

The date was June 2, 1992. Jay opened his eyes slowly and gazed at the sunlight, peeking through the blinds. He yawned widely and found his alarm clock which read 6:56. Jay grinned. He had woken up minutes before the clock would have gone off. His hand reached for the button to silence it, but he grinned once more and a mischievous possibility came to mind...

He quickly grabbed the magical alarm clock, currently enchanted to make a beeping noise when set off, and set it to max volume, and made the noise when set off the loudest he could think off, perhaps a large band of drummers would do? And then, he set it right next to Flynn's ear as he slept peacefully still, unaware of the torment he would soon be facing; or rather hearing. Then Jay hid behind his own bed, and watched the seconds tick off.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1-

The alarm clock hit seven A.M, and went off. Flynn immediately leapt out of bed by the screeching huge sound emitting from the device. He hit the off button, nearly crushing it in the process, and found Jay.
"What- in- the- bloody- HELL was that for?" He yelled, getting up in Jay's face.
"Woke up before the alarm clock." Jay replied with an all to smug grin. "Thought it'd be fun to-"
"Give your brother ear damage? Yeah, I can hardly breathe for laughing."
He was upset with Jay better part of the hour, but seemed to get over it after a bit, as he decided he had better things to do then stay mad over a prank.

They headed down to breakfast soon after, Jay looking down at History of Magic, which Professor Binns had assigned them, all the while Flynn gave him rude glares. Jay helped himself to another bite of buttered toast when something in the book caught his eye, which was quite uncommon for such a boring class.
The study of wand lore began after Dennis the Dense, who acquired his wand by peeling a branch off of a tree and smoothed it out some, hollowed it and stuffed a hair of a Bowtruckle in it, then waved his 'wand' and exploded part of a building. Ever since than, talented wood workers have been studying the different types of wands, most notably the Elder Wood Wand, which gained its reputation after a man wielding one accidentally murdered three people by jabbing his wand to hard while trying to perform the Exploding charm.

Jay peered more closely at that paragraph, abandoning the toast he had just taken a bite off of. The wand made of Elder that was described in the story... the wielder was simply trying to perform the Bombarda charm, and accidentally killed three people? Was that how powerful his wand was? Olivander's words came back to him...
"Even a masterful wizard would have trouble taming this wand..." Jay wasn't unconfident, he was actually quite confident in his abilities... but if even the most powerful wizards had trouble using that wand, how could he, a twelve year old wizard just out his first year of school, have hopes of using it?
But then again, he thought, mind flowing with thoughts, how could he have used the wand throughout the entire year? At first, the wand didn't fully feel comfortable, Flynn was usually the one to master spells before him, but after some time training it... the wand seemed to get slightly easier and easier to wield. Sure it was still challenging, the wand didn't seem to fully trust him yet, but it was growing on him.

As Jay was pondering this question, he suddenly snapped back to reality, and realized he should've been done with breakfast ages ago. Quickly shoveling down the last of his scrambled egg and buttered toast, he put down his book, and ran out of the house, Flynn having already left.
The pleasant, warm summer breeze hit him, waving around his face merrily. He stretched his arms and yawned silently, before walking next door to Gold's house.

He knocked on the door, and Gold's father immediately opened it.
Gold's father was a thin, tall man with black hair and bright, golden eyes just like Gold's.
"Hello Jay! How are you, here to see Gold of course? Flynn already got here of course, he said you were busy doing some summer homework." he greeted him merrily.
He nodded his heads, and he stepped aside from the door, allowing Jay to walk in to the house.
