Luz Comes Back!

Who is She?

Amity Pov:

I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off. I sat up and slapped the top of it to turn it off before pulling out my scroll and scrolling through Pensta for a couple minutes before pulling off my blanket and getting up and out of bed.
I headed downstairs and went to the kitchen and started making myself some eggs. I had still lived with my parents but I had recently been having an urge to move out, mainly cause my mom had kept nagging me to leave.
I put the eggs on a plate and started eating as I pulled out my scroll to check some documents for work. I finished eating and set my scroll down before grabbing onto my head.
"D-Damn..." My headaches had still been coming around. They first started happening around four years ago once Luz disappeared. I got up and went to the bathroom before looking in the medicine cabinet for my prescriptions. I started frantically looking around, they weren't in the cabinet so I must have left them in some other room, probably in my bedroom.
I ran up to my bedroom and opened up one of the drawers to my nightstand, finally finding the bottle. I opened it up and took two of the pills inside before seeing that it was now about empty, only four pills left, meaning I'd have to go get a refill soon.
I looked through my closet, trying to find an outfit to wear today before eventually deciding on wearing a pair of light blue jeans and a white t-shirt along with my purple jacket and brown boots. I went over to the mirror and looked at my outfit to see if it matched, which it did quite nicely. I brushed through my lavender-dyed hair with my fingers and then went back downstairs and washed off my plate from breakfast.

"It's been awhile since I've just went out on the town, and I still have a couple of hours before I meet up with Willow so what could it hurt?" I asked myself before walking through the front door of the house and closing it behind me.
For the next couple of hours I went to the market and looked through all of the stands, only buying one thing, a necklace with a bright purple gemstone in the center. I paused in place as I felt something in my jacket buzzing, so I felt my pockets before answering my scroll and seeing that it was Willow calling me.
I answered, "Hey Willow, what's up?"
"We've been waiting for you for about ten minutes so I thought I'd call since you aren't normally late," she answered. "Everything okay over there?"
"Yeah, sorry about that, was looking at the market and must've lost track of time somehow. I'll see you soon," I said before nearly hanging up, only stopping because I was interrupted.
"Oh and by the way, I have a surprise for you when you get here," she said before hanging up on me.
"Well now I'm curious," I said before panicking, "Wait I need to get there, they've been waiting on me!" I said to myself before running to the cafe nearest to my work and looking in the booths to find Willow. She was sitting in a six person booth with her and Boscha on the side I could see, but on the other side I knew Gus was there but I could only see a red beanie on the other person because of the counter that was in between that booth and the next.
I sat down into the seat next to the mystery guest without looking to see who it was, and immediately apologized, "Sorry for being late, got a bit distracted at the market." I said this with a tiny chuckle behind it as I took off my jacket and set it on my lap.
"Don't worry 'bout it," Willow said before moving her hands to gesture to the person next to me.
"Hey, my name's Ami-" was all I managed to say before getting cut off by my own shock.
"Hey Amity," Luz said with a wide smile as she turned her head to look at me.

There was no way it could be her, no way at all. She was gone, she disappeared right in front of my eyes. Th-This couldn't be her, could it?

My thoughts got cut off by a hug from her, "Sorry, ya looked like you could use one," she said before rubbing the back of her head. "And I just realized you might not recognize me," she said as she took off her beanie and set it in her lap, "but it's me, Luz." She said this all with a bright smile, but I couldn't even muster a smile. I didn't know how to process this, and it seemed I wouldn't have to decide, my emotions already had taken control. Tears fell from my eyes slowly down to my chin.
"W-Wait, is this really you?" I asked her, my voice trembling. I hugged her immediately, I expected her to maybe jump back from the sudden hug but she seemed to just want to hug me back.
"Yeah it's me, I know it's surprising but I woke up here yesterday somehow, but I'm not gonna question it!" She said the last part in a whisper shout. She patted my head before saying, "By the way, your hair looks really cool!"
I wanted to just sit there in her arms forever, I hadn't seen her and now she reappeared in my life again as quickly as she had vanished from it.
"You two lovebirds can save that for when you're alone," Boscha said from across the table before getting elbowed by Willow as Luz broke the hug.
Both me and Luz turned red, it seemed as if the sadness left my face as soon as the blush came. I wiped my tears off with my wrist before turning to Luz. "I-It's nice to see you again Luz."
"Did ya miss me Blight?" she asked, her voice sounded cheerful but also nervous.
I couldn't even think of an answer besides the truth, "Yeah, I did. I was extremely worried when you vanished out of no where. So, where have you been these past four years?"
"I was in the Human realm. I graduated a couple of months ago, and I have, well, had my own apartment. I woke up here yesterday but I still don't know how that was possible so I don't think I can go back anytime soon," she said, her tone sounded more like she was nervous and just trying to brush it off more than anything.
I was going to try to say something to comfort her but when nothing came to mind, Willow luckily interjected. "Hey it looks like our waiter is coming back with the drinks!"
The waiter came by and sat down five cups of tea and said, "I'll be right back with your orders of Gravlax," before turning back around and heading to the kitchen area.
"What's Gravlax?" Luz asked, her face showed that she was extremely confused.
"It's a human kind of food!" Gus said proudly.
"Gus here was studying human lifestyle through books from your realm and found tons of human dishes and then they became popular here in the Boiling Isles," Willow interjected. "This happened about four years ago, most cafes added them to their menu about three or so years ago," Gus said. "They added Gravlax as their signature dish here as soon as they opened!"
"That's really cool!" Luz said, her smile was as bright as it was years ago. I wish I could just get closer to her, but my mind interrupted the thought of being nearer to the one I missed
Amity! You can't have thoughts like this, she just got back! Plus, you don't even know how she feels about you either, she's been gone for four years she probably already found someone...
My thoughts were cut short by Luz who turned to me and asked, "Hey, you okay?"
She sounded so full of concern, I couldn't help but to blush from embarrassment, it really showed that much? "Hey, Amity?" Luz said as she shook me by my shoulders to get me to snap back to reality.
"Yeah?" I responded, my blush only deepened as her hands had taken ahold of me. I remembered what she said, "Oh, yeah, I'm okay."
"You sure? You don't seem okay," she said as her hands loosened their grip on me.
"Yeah, just, so shocked to see you all of a sudden," my blush died down as I told her this.
"Oh, yeah," she said with a nervous chuckle before letting me go. "Sorry, I forgot how long I've been away."
The waiter came to the table carrying five plates of Gravlax in the air before setting them all down on the table. "Enjoy!" He said before walking off.
Luz looked at her plate curiously, making me kind of question the food since she didn't seem eager to try it. After looking at it for a couple of seconds she asked, "How did you guys get salmon here? Do y'all have fish here now?"
Gus' face lit up with excitement as he had seemingly waited for this question, "Yes! Over the past couple of years, more and more human animals started to show up! Mainly what you call fish but we had some others show up like an elephant once! Ever since then, we constructed a large fish farm underground where we breed the fish, after looking through some old books about 'aquaculture,'" he said, making a dumb face while making the air quotations. "And from there we've created a huge fish market that helps feed everyone that lives within the Titan! What's even better than that is that Amity works at the company that does it all!"
Luz turned to me with her eyes bright like kid in a candy store, "Really?! That's so amazing!"
I rubbed the back of my head, "I only manage data for the company, I don't actually help out with the fish breeding part."
She still seemed pretty happy to hear about that, her smile not fading. She then turned to Gus, "What did you guys do with the elephant?"
As soon as she mentioned that we all found a focal point around the cafe before Boscha finally spoke up, "Well, we didn't know what it was, and since it didn't know the Boiling Isles' water is well, boiling, it went for a swim and uhh, I think you can tell the rest."
Luz's smile faded a tiny bit before saying, "Well I mean at least it's not like you guys killed it, although I do wonder how it got to the Boiling Isles. Probably the same way the rest of the stuff gets here. Well, I don't know about you guys but I sure am hungry!"
Immediately after that we had all started eating  and finished before some royal guards walked in and sat in a booth near us.
"So are they still like, the bad guys?" Luz whispered to everyone at the table.
I answered her, "Nope, Emperor Belos got sucked into the Human Realm at the same time you did and just a couple months later he showed up through one of the 'deliveries' from your world. But, unlike the fish, he was dead."
Luz seemed to be calmer about the news, "So are King, Eda, and I not wanted by the law anymore?"
Willow piped up to answer this question, "Nope! For the past three and a half years you guys have been cleared of all charges."
"That's awesome!" Luz's arms rose as she accidentally shouted.
For the next couple of minutes we all had spent some time talking to one another, mainly just telling Luz about all of the new stuff in Bonesborough. As soon as the bill came I had slid in the money, then leaving to go to work but before I could go Luz gave me a hug. Oh Titan I wish I didn't have to leave so soon...
