Death,

It's all around us. It happens to the best of us.

It's really depressing if you ask anyone, but for me it's normal. People die and that's how it is. Even if they were young, strong, healthy or good people. My name is Ivy. Ivy Jones.

I'll tell you what happened to the world.

It was 2022 and summer was just over. It was getting colder. The most teenagers were in school, but not me. I was on the couch watching TV. I didn't feel good that morning so decided to stay home. I was watching TV when i decided to get some water. I got some water from the fridge and then walked outside to take a deep breath. Everything was going smoothly. My father and brother were getting along better. I took a sip of my water and looked at the sky. Then I almost choked on my water. I saw a gigantic ship in the air. I rushed inside and put my glass of water on the counter. I grabbed my phone quickly to call my dad. When I looked at my phone my father was already calling.

"Hey dad-"
"Ivy you see that right?"
"Yes what do I do?"
"Stay home and fill the water cans. I will be home as soon as possible"
"Okay dad. Did you called Roy?"
"No. I'll call him now. See you soon"
"K bye"

I hung up in a rush and threw my phone on the couch. I ran down to the basement and grabbed the cans. I quickly filled them in the kitchen with water. When I got to the 5th can the door opened and my dad and brother walked in.

"Hey Roy" I tried to greet my brother but he looked pissed.
"Hey little sis. Dad's being a dick again" he said and walked upstairs.
"Hey come back down!" My dad screamed at my brother.
I finished filling the cans.

"Hey dad I'm done" I looked at my dad and pointed to the cans.
"Great work"
Then my brother came back down
"What's going on?" He asked.
"You both saw that ship in the air?"
We both nodded.
"You'll have to start training because we don't know what we can expect from that space ship" my dad said in the most serious tone. I almost wanted to laugh in his face but I knew I would get karma so, I didn't.
"Wait you think they'll come and attack us?" My brother asked nervously.
"Yes. Before we start training you'll have to stick to one rule. It's kill or get killed"
Me and my brother looked at each other in concern. Has my dad gone crazy?

"You won't be going to school anymore. You'll wake up every morning at 7 am and train till the evening"

"What kind of training will we be doing?" I asked my father.

"Survival, hand to hand combat, weapons and how to fight with weapons" his old military attitude started to kick in.

First i thought that he was taking it to seriously and genuinely got scared of him, until the first wave hit.

Lights out. Around half a million people were wiped out by this wave.

I was training, as my dad wanted. I was swinging my knife around when I saw a plane crash. I heard explosions in the distance. I looked out the window and saw that cars have collided with each other. My dad saw the scene to. He tried to turn on the TV but it wouldn't turn on. Everything happened so fast.

"I think they've turned off everything that uses electricity somehow" my brother said.

My dad turned to us. "When they start attacking, the weapons are in the basement. I'll give you two your own pistols"

"Thanks dad"

Weeks went by until the second wave hit.

Surf's up. This killed 3 billion people on planet earth.

Massive tsunami were caused by The Others. That's how we call them now. Me, my brother and father lived a good distant from the coast. My brother was home but me and my father were gathering supplies in the shops that were closer to the coast. You would think that people were going insane and stealing things because it didn't matter anymore. Well that was exactly the case. The shop owner wasn't even there. People grabbed cash and everything they could find. "We only take what we need" my father said strictly. Before he could turn around I spoke up.
