Double updates today, as promised! Also we have a new cover ^^ This chapter is a bit shorter than normal, but I hope you'll enjoy it.

During your time at the butterfly mansion, you helped around the house, and got to know everyone quite well. The Mugen Train Arc was fast approaching, and you trained everyday to get stronger in preparation.

Right now, you headed down a familiar hallway and knocked a few times on the fusuma doors to Shinobu's lab. You would help her in creating some medicines and poisons, like preparing supplies and sometimes giving some ideas. During that time she showed you some of her knowledge in the medical field.

"Shinobu-san?"

Shuffling could be heard in the room as Shinobu's voice rang out, "You can come in."

"Hey Y/n-san!" Shinobu smiled, though she looked tired.

"Good morning!" You greeted, "How have you been?"

"Better than ever. You? How was your mission?"

"It was good." Then you remembered the encounter with Akaza, "Though... there was a little inconvenience on the way back."

"Oh? What happened?"

"N-nothing important!"

Shinobu laughed, "Okay, okay. I found the last material we needed for the new poison I came up with. After I finish, do you mind testing it out on a demon for me and tell me if it works well? I should be done by tomorrow."

"But I just got back from a mission!!" You pouted.

"Please?? I'm a bit busy these days." Shinobu said, "I'll get you some dango if you want."

"Okay... I suppose stabbing demons with poison would be fun. So, do you need any help with anything today?" You asked.

"If you're free, do you mind extracting the serum from these wisteria petals?"

"Sure!" You went to a closet, pulling on a lab coat and gloves. Sitting across from Shinobu you got to work.

You noticed a glass pitcher that was half full with thick, deep purple syrup. It looked different from the other poisons Shinobu's made, so you assumed it was another new creation. Some of it was stained on the edge of the glass, like the pitcher had been toppled over.

"Did you make that poison today, Shinobu-san?"

"H-Huh?" Shinobu raised her head from what she was doing and when she saw you noticed the serum she seemed a bit... nervous? "Oh... yeah."

"But wouldn't the poison be too thin? It wouldn't have enough poison concentration to be as effective."

"Umm... Yeah I guess..."

Instead of proudly introducing the new poison like she normally would, Shinobu, she quickly put it away and lowered her head again, examining some ingredients through a lense.

Shrugging off her weird behavior, you went back to what you were doing as well, the two of you chatting a bit about medicine and such as you worked.

After a while, you exclaimed proudly, "Done!" And handed a small vial to Shinobu.

"Thanks!!" Shinobu smiled.

"Wait, there's something on the corner of your mouth." You noticed a deep purple stain. Why did the color seem familiar...

"Where?"

"On the left side." You directed.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't notice!" Shinobu laughed a bit awkwardly and wiped it off.

Suddenly your eyes widened. The stain was deep purple. The same color as the peculiar poison you had spotted today, the one Shinobu was acting so weird about.

"The poison from earlier..." You mumbled.

Things made sense. Why the poison was so different from the other ones Shinobu's made. And from the manga you knew she had saturated her body with highly concentrated Wisteria poison to defeat Doma, the upper moon two.

And the pitcher looked like it was tilted and had stains on the edges. Like someone had...

"You drank it?"
