The blaring sound of the alarm is what woke Kitt up, earning a sleepy groan from the girl. She hated mornings, and today was the first day of school for her too. Great another day to get stared at like she was part of the fucking circus. She slammed her hand on top of the clock, taking her anger out on the poor machine. She sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she tried to ground herself. She looked around the room, looking at how little progress she had actually completed the day before due to her adventures yesterday. Seeing how much further she had to go before this actually felt like her own space was slightly disheartening. She missed her home, and the thought only pissed her off once more. She hated that she missed it. She hated how vulnerable she was, even when she was beside herself. She didn't have time to mope, to be sad or vulnerable. That's how bad things happened.
She finally threw the sheets off of her, revealing the tank top and shorts she had slept in. She stood up, walking over to her closet and pulling out another pair of bell bottoms, a staple in her closet, and a cropped t-shirt that had faded over time. She honestly couldn't even tell you what was originally on the shirt either as she had had it for too long. She quickly changed, finishing the look with a pair of black converse and throwing her hair into a half up half down look. She tried not to focus on her appearance or how she looked, already not in the mood to have that mental fight. She grabbed her shoulder bag and headed out of the house, trying to stay quiet enough that she wouldn't disturb her more than likely hungover parents. She rolled her eyes at the thought and continued on her way to school, taking in her surroundings as she walked.
"Kitt! Wait up!" Gwen called out, throwing the girl out of her current thoughts. She smiled at the younger female, and the slightly older boy she had walking beside her. She paused, waiting for them to catch up to her before she continued walking.
"Morning Gwen. Who's this?" Kitt asked, pointing towards the boy beside the brunette. He looked awkward, almost afraid. She wondered why for a moment before it hit her. He saw the exchange at the Grab N' Go. She took a moment to actually focus on the boy, trying to figure out if she had actually seen him in the store or not. He had curly brown hair and warm brown eyes. She could tell by his thin frame that he really wasn't the type to start shit or throw a punch unless absolutely necessary.
"This is Finney, my brother! Don't mind him, he's just afraid you'll kick his ass like you did to Moose," Gwen teased, giggling as she did so. Kitt smiled and shook her head at her comment, knowing that it wasn't completely dishonest.
"No I'm not! I am way more worried about who she's pissed off," Finney replied, his eyes flickering past the girls and to the other side of the street. Kitt raised a brow and looked over to where he had been looking only to see Pinball Boy again. Couldn't she get a break from this creep. Her smile fell and a cold look came across her face as she raised her middle finger to the boy who just smirked at her. She could tell, even from where she was, that his nose had been bruised due to their quarrel.
"Who the fuck even is that guy? He's been nothing but a pain in my ass," the blonde questioned, looking at the other two beside her. The two of them had stopped in their tracks at her questioning, which made her even more confused. Just who the fuck was this dude? How many people were terrified of him? This was slowly starting to get on her nerves.
"You're joking, please tell me you're joking," the male begged, his brows furrowing together in worry. Kitt huffed and crossed her arms as she looked at him. "Please tell me you didn't piss him off without knowing who he is."
"That's Pinball Vance Hopper. He's the toughest guy around, he's been in and out of Juvie more times than anyone here. No one fucks with him," Gwen informed, looking over at him. "Also known as the man whore of the school. Almost every girl at school has been begging him for a chance. He never stays with a girl for more than a couple of days though. They all piss him off," she continued. They all began to walk again, Gwen telling multiple stories of all of the crazy things that "Pinball Vance" had done in the past.
Kitt wasn't really listening though, she was too lost in thought. She had fucked up. She had caught the attention of the biggest prick in school before her first day. God, this was going to be a mess. When they reached the school the trio had split ways, but not before agreeing to meet up at lunch. She pulled out her schedule from her bag that had her locker number and her combination on it before starting her hunt for her locker. She found it easily enough. She opened it and started putting her belonging into the locker when it was slammed shut in front of her. Rage surged through her, but she pushed it down long enough to look and see just who had the balls to fuck with her this morning. Her eyes met with a pair of ice blue ones which showed amusement.
Everything in the hallway went silent as everyone stopped to watch the scene that was happening before them. Kitt moved to face the boy who she now new was Vance Hopper, waiting for him to explain just what he wanted, but it seemed like he was waiting for her to say something first. A smirk slowly made it's way onto her face as her gaze moved down to his bruised nose.
"Black and blue looks pretty good on you, huh Pinball Boy?" She taunted, watching as his smirk turned to a sneer instead. She narrowed her eyes at him, basically challenging him. Everyone around them watched, anxiously waiting for Vance to lose his cool on the new girl, but he didn't. He stayed silent for a moment, taking a deep breath before turning and walking away, shocking everyone around. Including Kitt. Just what was his deal? What did he want from her anyways? She shrugged it off and reopened her locker, trying not to think of the hot headed blonde.
Time flew by quickly, and eventually lunch rolled around. She ignored the stares as she walked past others in the cafeteria. She walked over to the table where she saw Finney, Gwen and another boy. He was taller than Finney, but not by much. Maybe a couple of inches. He was definitely from Hispanic descent. She sat down beside Gwen and across from Finney, giving a small wave to the other boy at the table who was already grinning at her.
"Ah, so this is the one who beat the shit out of Moose, huh? I hear you also were the one to fuck up Pinball Vance's nose," the stranger praised, obviously happy to meet her. She grinned at him and shook her head at his antics. "Nice to meet ya, I'm Robin," he continued.
"Kitt, nice to meet you too," she greeted with a small nod at him. They continued their lunch peacefully, ignoring the whispers and comments about the new girl. It was nice. It almost felt like she had found her place here. Almost.
