Vance never returned to class. Kitt kept glancing at the door every so often, wondering why he had just left, but she never got an answer. The bell rung, letting everyone know it was time to head to the next class. She got up from her chair, putting her things away when she realized he had never given her back her pencil. That dick really took the pencil. She knew he wouldn't ever use it. He probably just threw it away, which irritated her. She spent her own money on her supplies and her belongings. She didn't want to have to buy anymore right now, not when she didn't even have a job yet.
She walked out into the crowded hallway, slowly making her way to her locker to exchange her things for her next class. She saw a familiar head of brown hair walking just in front of her, making her speed up to catch the brunette. She smirked, walking up behind the boy as quietly as she could before leaning in to whisper in his ear.
"Boo," she whispered, snickering as Finney jumped. She settled into a comfortable pace walking besides him. Finney blushed slightly out of embarrassment but quickly hid it. He shook his head at her antics. "Hey Fin," she greeted, grinning at him as he continued to play it cool as he walked down the hall. "I won't be able to hang out after school today. Vance wants to meet up at the Grab N' Go after school," she told him, leading him to her locker so she could grab her math book.
Fin's eyebrows raised, shocked that that sentence just left her mouth. She had literally just threw a glass bottle at him and given him a bloody nose all within a 24 hour time period. He held up a hand, trying to do the math in his head about why she would willingly go to hang out with him, but he couldn't figure it out. "Why? What does he want?" He questioned, confusion and worry both written out on his face clear as day. He was worried about her, he knew she could handle herself, but Vance had the upper hand when it came to size and strength. He just didn't want anything bad to happen. "Do you need Robin to go with you?" He offered, just trying to play it safe.
Kitt chuckled softly at his worry but shook her head no. "I'll be fine on my own, but thanks for the offer. I don't even know what he wants. He asked me last period to go with him, and as soon as I said yes he walked out. Never came back either," she stated, shrugging as she shut her locker. She turned to look at Fin who looked like he was unsure, but he wasn't about to argue with her, he didn't think it would be smart to argue with her. They continued on their walk to their classes, both of them silent as they carried on. Neither of them knew what to say to that. Fin didn't want to push anything, or try to make it seem like she couldn't handle herself, while Kitt was still thinking about what Vance wanted from her. He just couldn't seem to leave her alone. "I'll still see you guys off before I head to the store though," she finally offered, earning a nod from the male next to her.
"Just be safe. Dude's a fucking lunatic," he stated with a small smile before he left to go to his own class. Kitt sighed, shaking her head before carrying on to her own. Time seemed to drag on now, like it was going in slow motion since her interaction with Vance. She couldn't tell if it was from dread or excitement. Not excitement to see the blonde, no. But excitement of what he had planned. She knew he wasn't exactly the kind who liked to be bored in his free time, and she wondered what all there was for her to do here. She watched the clock like a hawk for the next couple of hours until finally, her signal for freedom rang. She quickly put her things up and headed to leave the building.
She exited the school as soon as she put her things away and smiled as she saw her small group talking in front of the school, but they didn't seem too happy if she was honest. She walked up to them and took in all of their concerned faces and sighed. She knew what this conversation was going to be about, and she wasn't looking forward to it.
"Are you mental?" Was the first question asked, and it came from Gwen. Kitt smirked and rolled her eyes at her. She didn't expect anything less from the surprisingly blunt female. That was why she liked her so much.
"Why are you acting like it's a big deal? If it gets him off my back, why not?" She quickly retorted, crossing her arms. Did they think she couldn't handle it? Why the fuck were they so worried? She knew that Vance had a reputation, but how bad was he really? Yea he was definitely annoying, but he wasn't anything she couldn't handle.
The trio glanced at each other, understanding where she was coming from. They all just agreed with the stubborn girl and changed topics. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate the fact that they cared, but it was annoying that they thought that she needed help with someone like him. As their conversation continued, none of them noticed the taller male walking up until he was right beside Kitt. She turned her head to look at him as he gave her another one of his mischievous grins. She rolled her eyes at him and said goodbye to the others. Gwen and Fin left quickly, but Robin paused for a moment, looking at Kitt to make sure she was good. She nodded at him, letting him know she was good before the two remaining teens started their walk to Grab N' Go, an awkward silence settling between the two.
What even was there to say? Neither one of them really knew where to begin. God this was going to be so much fun, huh?
