The Alpha's Lost Mate

Chapter Seven

Lorelei

   I cling onto Cane like he's a lifeline till I realize that we stopped falling. I look around to see that we are floating about 4 feet off the ground, I turn a glare onto Cane. "Why did you do that, that scared the piss out of me jerk." Cane just smiles and sets me on the ground but not releasing me thinking I'll run again, though after his stunt I was debating actually doing it. Canes eyes go from laugher to frosty than hard in a span of a second. "What's wrong Cane?" Cane looks at me than behind me in horror right before I feel the stab of a syringe in my neck just like all those years again right before everything goes black I watch in horror as Cane is being attacked by larger than the trees shadows. I wish I could have linked someone to help but it was to late as the darkness took me into its arms. 

Cane 

   As I fall backwards out of the tree Lorelei my beautiful spitfire of a mate clings onto me so tightly that I can barely breathe but I don't care as I feel the sparks that I have missed all the years me have been separated. When we get close to the ground I levitate us 4 feet off the ground enjoying the feel of my mate in my arms. Right after I place us on the ground my beta mind-links me in terror "CANE!!" my beta yells through the link I reopened. I whine than mind-link him back "Geez man thanks for the headache what's up I just caught my mate after her game of hide and seek." My beta still yelling through the link responds " Dude grab the Luna and ran something huge is coming y 'all's way and I don't know what it is it has no scent and no shape, it's just a huge shadow thing that is as tall as a 100 year old fern." Once I cut the link I'm about to tell Lorelei that we have to go but behind her in the shadow my beta was talking about. Right when I was about to warn my mate the shadow attacked me and another shadow creature stuck a syringe in Lorelei's neck drugging her.
