Third POV:

The boat pulled up next to the island and a wooden plank was placed down for us to get off the boat. Before anyone could start moving off, Clouse moved forward and walked off first.

"Welcome to Chen's Island," Chen announced after he got off the boat and motioned for us to follow him. "The Tournament of Elements welcomes its brave fighters. Master Chen will be pleased, you've returned, Sensei Garmadon." Clouse turned to Garmadon as he made his way across the plank after Clouse.

"The pleasure is all mine, Clouse," Garmadon replied in a not so friendly tone.

"I'm sure it is," Clouse muttered as he turned around and led the way up the stairs towards a big set of wooden doors. On either side of the doors

"Definitely feeling some tension between you two," Jay commented as he stepped off the plank behind Garmadon, the rest of the ninja following after him.

"Yeah," Kai agreed, "and how is it we're on an island I've never seen on any map?"

"And, care to explain how the face of Ninjago's most popular noodle house is secretly assembling an underground fighting tournament?" Cole asked.

"Master Chen used to be a friend," Garmadon answered. "Now he's a traitor. During the Serpentine Wars, Chen turned against his own kind and sided with the treacherous snakes."

"The battle you and Uncle Wu fought together in?" Lloyd jumped in. "He was an enemy?"

"He used deception to divide the Elemental Masters," Garmadon explained as he started walking towards after everyone else up the stairs. "We barely defeated the Serpentine, and in a deal for his surrender, Chen was never to leave this island. Little did we know, he began to build his criminal empire from here."

"He may have divided our ancestors," Lloyd spoke up, "but he's not gonna divide-"

"Uh, ladies first," Kai cut Lloyd off as the mysterious girl that he couldn't keep his eyes off from before walked up behind them. Kai ended up pushing the ninja's and Garmadon to the side to give the girl room to walk past. "Fire will melt her icy heart. Just wait."

The boys and Garmadon sighed at Kai's antics and walked up the remainder of the steps to the group of Elemental Masters crowded around the front of the temple.

"This is a big island," Cole said, "Zane could be anywhere. Keep an eye out."

The doors swung open revealing the inside of the Temple. There was a strip of pink carpet that led up to another set of doors. On either side of the carpet, there was a row of people playing the crumbs and chanting unrecognisable words. Chen led the group of Elemental Masters through the doors and across the small courtyard to the next set of doors.

"So this is the house that Noodle's built. Ha! Always wanted to go to a red carpet event," Jay joked as they walked across the carpet.

"Chen lives like a King. Here, he's totally self-sufficient. The only way on or off this island is with his permission," Garmadon warned, "which you have to earn."

"You never told me about this place," Lloyd said as he fell into place next to his father. "How do you know so much about this island?"

"Because before Chen was my enemy," Garmadon replied, untying his kimono to reveal a tattoo of a snake that spread across his whole back, "he was my Sensei."
