I awoke to realize that I feel asleep in the grass. I found it so creepy, like if someone driving by saw me I wonder what they thought. As I got up I stretched and tried getting all the grass out of my hair. I was definitely in a predicament though, here where I was all alone, there was nobody haunting me, nobody throwing me out of car windows... I can still feel the cuts running up my side, and pieces of jagged glass still stuck in my skin.
I walked down the road, and to my surprise there was a pancake house. I was starving, but I didn't have any money, so I couldn't just go up there and order food.
What really "Scared" me was the fact that where I was did not look familiar at all to me. The cars going by still had Mississippi license plates, so I guess I'm not too far. It didn't seem that far when we were driving. But I was in a car going 60 miles an hour. As I walk down the road, I notice there are sidewalks, which are very helpful. I took a small break and sat down in a public park, when all of a sudden a police officer approached me.
" Are you here alone miss? " He asked
I had no idea what to say, I mean I could say that I am alone and he would take me back home, but I wasn't so sure if I wanted to be home. But then a thought crossed my mind. I would rather die from some psychotic little girl, then from hunger.
" Yes I am" I say as I clear my throat, It's been a while since I had said anything
" Now what is your age miss " He said in a deep country accent
" I - I'm 14 years old. " I manage to tell him
" You see I got lost while walking home from school, We only moved here a few days ago, and I'm completely lost and terribly scared" I say as tears well up in my eyes. And those tears weren't fake because I actually was scared.
" Ok ma'am I will help you home, just sit in the passenger seat and we will get everything sorted "
" Ok, Thank you so much " I reply and open the passenger door and sit on the black leather seat.
I told him where I lived, and he said that we were only 15 minutes away from there. We pull into my neighborhood, and I begin to understand my surroundings a bit more. I begin to become very nervous and anxious to see whats going to open that front door. As we pull into the driveway, I thank the police officer and give him a hug and walk up to the doorstep. I took one deep breath, and pressed the doorbell....
My mother opened the door. She looked perfectly fine. She wasn't pale, and she acted like nothing had happened. She thanked the officer so much, and she was crying.
" I missed you so much honey, we have a lot to talk about once you get inside "
I begin to wonder what this " Stuff " we have to talk about. And my heart starts beating really fast and I become really nervous.
