love and gears (viktor x reader)

Previously on love and gears:

"I see you've been waiting a while" a familiar voice calls out. I look behind me to see him. The man I was supposed to assassinate many years ago. "Viktor"

And now, current time:

"You? Why are you here? More importantly, are you who.."

"Yes.. but it's not for what you think" viktor makes his way over to me and stands next to me, looking at the 'sky'. "You asked me to come here.. why?" "You're an assassin, correct?" He turns to face me. "No shit.. now answer my question. Why am I here?" He bites his lip before responding. "Do you know of a.. Jinx or maybe a Silco?" I narrowed my eyes as I focused on his now sitting form. "And if I do?" "It would be greatly appreciated if you could help me?" I grit my teeth and take a step back. "Why would I help you? You tried to arrest me a couple of years ago. I got my reputation ruined in the under city because of you!" I was now reaching for my gun. "It's not my fault you chose to be a criminal." He chuckled a little before getting up. "This isn't a laughing matter!" I whisper yell at him.

 "I need someone assassinated." I furrow my eyebrows and turn the other way. "So now the good scientist needs my help? The help of a.. what did you call me.. oh a criminal" Viktor let out a sigh of defeat. "I'll let you stay with me for now.. I won't turn you in." "You act as if that's the best deal in the world" I scoff. "For now, and specifically for you, it is one of the best deals I can offer" he's now fully turned and staring at me and me doing the same. I cross my arms and look away. 'He's right you know?' I hear a buzz in my ear piece. "I know he's right" I reply. Viktor raises an eyebrow. "I have a tiny person living in my ear" I say sarcastically. "If that were the case then pigs would fly and hell would have frozen over" he says as he nods to my ear piece. "So you are observing me" "what can I say, I am a scientist after all" I roll my eyes and turn around, trying to figure out my best choice here. "F/n I'm not sure if I should go or not." F/n laughs a little 'it's the best chance you have of making quick money' "he never said anything about money" I retort. "I'll pay you. That is one of your terms, yes?" 

I turn around and give Viktor a fake smile and nod. 'See? You have food, housing, maybe some clothes, and a paying job. Possibly a high paying one?' "Depends on the hit. He mentioned Silco and some person named Jinx?" F/n got quiet. 'Maybe it wouldn't be wise to take the job' I was taken aback. "But you just-" 'doesn't matter- Silco is basically a mafia leader! He's dangerous! Do you really think he wouldn't have the necessary security?' I pursed my lips together "I'll supply you with any equipment that you may need" Viktor spoke up. I sigh and turn around "thanks for the offer but I don't think this is the best job for me! I'll be taking my leave now" "I can get her out" I stopped mid track. I slowly turned around.

 "Do you mean.." "one of Vander's kids were brought in a couple of years ago. She was the reason for the explosion at-" "yeah I know who you're talking about" I suck in some air and blew it all out before putting my hand out. "Deal" 'bzzz —y/n— bzzz —Larke! Bzz— what— you— oing-" my ear piece buzzed in and out. "Hello? F/n?" I tapped on the ear piece trying to get a response. "Dammit" I say taking out the ear piece and giving it a look over. "May I ask what happened?" "The damn signal got intercepted" I reply, still banging the ear piece against my ear. "May I?" Viktor asked holding his hand out. I laugh "go ahead" I stood back and watched him do his thing. After a couple of minutes he hands it back. "It should work now" he says with a small smile. I cautiously take the ear piece back and slip it back into my ear. 'Y/n are you there? I think the signal was intercepted by hex core again" f/n says as I hear keys clacking in the background. "N-no no it's fine" I say in awe. Viktor was wiping some dirt off of his hands and then looked up at me and gave me a smile. I frown and get back to my conversation. "I'm doing it" I say to f/n. 'What? It's dangerous!' 

"Good thing I will have the 'proper equipment' with me" I say sarcastically. 'Then it looks like I have to be backup. Maybe a rat?' F/n says. "To have a rat on the inside would be a good idea.." I start "If you're able to, can you do that?" 'Of course! I would do anything to help you y/n' I smiled slightly. I promptly turn around "I guess it's time for us to go!" I say. Viktor put his hand out to me "then I guess from now until it is done, we'll be partners" "don't make it sound all weird! This is just a job between two people" I shake his hand and start to leave. "Meet me at the bridge at [REDACTED TIME] and have everything ready!" Viktor yells after me. I cringe at the thought me of sharing a house with some dude who tried to turn me in.
