Chapter 1

"SAMMY, WAKE UP!!!"
"Ugh...... No."
"This is your last week of your last year, come on sleepy head. I made pancakes, bacon and eggs. Come on down when your ready."
And she leaves with a smile. Man don't I love that woman!

I somehow manage to drag myself out of bed, and head to the bathroom. First I brush my teeth, and hair then hop on the shower. Afterwards, I get dressed, do my makeup, blow dry and curl my hair... Yeah, yeah... It's the last few days of school, I'm Actually trying to look cute!
I have on my lucky white girl leggings, a black and gold chevron T, and my sparkly gold sandals. I personally think I'm lookin kinda hot!
I grab my new galaxy book bag, my phone, head phones, car keys, and side purse then head to the kitchen.

"Morning honey" mom says as I enter from the stairway.
"Good morning mom" I reply with a smile.
Mom quickly prepared my plate and set it in front of me.
"Thanks"
"Mhmm"
I quickly eat my food, say bye to mother, and head to school.

I'm so thankful my mom got me a car for my 16th birthday about a year and a half ago. It's a blue pickup truck. An F-150 to be exact. When I was about 14/15, I would never shut up about how bad I wanted one so bad! So, odds are... She got me one.

The traffic is light, and there seems to be no cops around this morning, so I pick up speed in the killer as Maroon 5 is blaring through the speakers. It takes about 15, to 20 to get to school... Which is great, so I have time to mentally prepare myself for the day.

I arrive on school grounds as I see everyone iv grown up with.

"AMBER, WAIT UP!" I yell from my truck as I see my best friend walking into school with a couple of our other friends. We're the kinda girls that don't really hang with other girls besides each other, just simply cause girls cause to much drama. So, we hang with the Guys, preferably the nerds... But we also hang with the jocks, there awesome!

We walk in talking about the baseball game last night, of course... We won. We go for our friends that are on the team... Like tanner.

Tanner and I have been good friends since pre-school! We go WAAAY back! But, a couple of years ago, back in middle school, in 7th grade... We admitted that we liked each other. Nothing has ever changed between us. He's my best guy friend, I just don't want anything bad to happen to us. I guess that's why we've never gone out, or done anything.

As we approach our lockers, I open mine, and of course... Everything falls out.
Then what do you know... Tanner appears out of no where.
"Here, let me help you out there, little miss short stuff"
"Thanks, tanner"
"Anytime, so... What you up to later?"
"Like, after school?" I ask while gathering my stuff for my next few classes.
"Of course, my parents are cooking out to celebrate there 25th year anniversary, wanna join?"
"I'd be happy to, I'll text my mom at lunch and tell her."
"Sounds good, meet me here at 2:40"
"See ya there... I mean, here" he laughs, punches my arm... And walks away.

I watch him walk away for a few seconds, as he looks back and winks at me. I just smile, then turn towards Amber. Shes staring at me like she knows something.
"Tonight, huh?"
"Yeah... It's just his parents anniversary, nothing big"
"Uh huh... That's what u say every time."
"Oh shut up"

"See ya at lunch, bye"
"See ya"
~later on in the day~
Well, biology is always a pain... But at least it's my last class of the day. It's almost time to go to lunch... I love lunch, it's my favorite part of the day. It's the time of the day i get to talk, and hangout with all of my friends.

"HEEEY, What's up Sam?!"
"Haha, hey tanner!" I reply as tanner joins me, Amber, Wes, and Dalton.
You excited for tonight?" He asks raising one eye brow.
"What's going on tonight?" Wes chimes is before I got to answer tanner.
"Uh, just a little cook out for his parents anniversary. Nothing big..." I say sounding a little to happy.
Tanner smiles at the enjoyment in my voice.
"That's right, my dad makes the best burgers in town. He's got all u mofo's beat big time!"
"We'll see about that when u try my dads lasagna!"
"Okay now boys... Let's not get to fired up. Wouldn't want to turn as red as this ketchup!" Amber says slinging ketchup all over Dalton's face!
"Oh you little..."
"Angle? Yeah. I know."

As Amber, dalton, and Wes continue there conversation, tanner taps my foot under the table to get my attention.
"So, besides eating... What else u wanna do tonight?"
"Maybe take a walk... Oh! We can go to that old park we always went to when we were little!"
"Sam, your a genius! Totally, I can pack a few burgers, fries and chips in a basket, and we can have a little picnic there"
"Hell yeah! Sounds like a plan."
"Let's do it... Tonight's gonna be fun."
"For sure." I say with a smile ending our conversation.

"Hey Sammy, you ready for this summer? Amber asks breaking mine and tanners eye contact.
"Definitely, it's gonna be awesome!"
"Absolutely!"
"What's going on this summer? Tanner asks.
"Oh, me and Amber are going to California for 3 weeks. My mom said I could bring 1 friend, so..."
"Sounds super fun. Wish I could go." Tanner says smiling straight into my eyes.
"Yeah. Me too." I say looking right back at him.

The bell rings just in time. Finally, it's time to go home!

"Alright, we'll see you Guys tomorrow. Bye!" Tanner says breaking eye contact again.
"Yeah, same... Text me later Amb's. "
"I will. I love you!"
"Love you too." I say as we hug and walk away heading to my locker.

I remember I'm supposed to be meeting Tanner at the lockers at 2:40. It's now 2:37.
I rush to my locker, and put my books in my bookbag, and gather everything I need.
A hand appears on the top of my locker door... It's Tanner.
"You ready?"
"Yeah. Can we stop by house real quick?"
"Of course. What do you need?"
"I gotta drop off my book bag, and tell my mom I'm going. I forgot to text her at lunch."
"Alright. I'll meet you there"
"Okay, see ya"
"Bye cutie."

I close and lock my locker. Wait... Am I smiling? Wow.... Did he just call me "cutie"? Well alrighty then... Can't complain to that, now can you?

I hop in my truck, and crank her up, start heading home listening to some "Sam Hunt"

"Hey mom"
"Hi honey, how was school?"
"Pretty good. Uh, Tanner invited me over... Can I go hang at his place for dinner and stuff?"
"Sure, of course." She answers as Tanner walks in.
He doesn't even need to knock anymore. He's been coming over for about 10 years now. My house is practically his, and vise versa.

"Hey, let me just run up stairs and put my book bag away."
"Alright. I'll be here."
"I would hope so..." I say playfully running up stair.
He laughs as I disappear up the stairs.
When I return, mom and Tanner are talking about the weather.
"I hear it's gonna be pretty rainy tomorrow." Tanner says.
"Yeah. It sure is. I don't like the idea of my little Sammy driving in the rain, it scares me."
"Mom, I'll be...." I'm interrupted my mister T here.
"I can pick her up, and take her to my place after school, then back here if you want me to Kendall."
"That would be wonderful, thank u Tanner." Mom says.
"My pleasure..... So, you ready?" He says facing towards me.
"Yeah, Let's go."
