Chapter 5 - Complicated

"How did you meet him?" Mateo asked
"Who?" Elena asked
"The cop your dating" Mateo said
"I have no idea what your talking about?" Elena said as she signed the last of the paperwork
"Guessing he doesn't know your line of work?" Mateo asked
"What is this? 21 questions?" Elena asked
"I'm dating an army Luitenent, guessing we both have secrets when it comes to dating" Mateo laughed whilst pouring himself a scotch
"Just dating her?" Elena asked
"What did you do Russo" Mateo asked
"I married him" Elena said taking a sip of her drink
"Wow, you've got guts" Mateo said
"What does he think you do?" Mateo asked
"Teaching elementary kids, you?" Elena said
"Barman" Mateo said
Elena's face then lit up
"What?" Mateo asked
"You love her? This Luitenent?" Elena asked
"With everything I have" Mateo replied
"But you can't be with her, be with her" Elena explained
"With my dad? No" Mateo replied
"Then let's get married but we fake it" Elena said
"What?" Mateo asked
"I own the biggest Italian mobs in the world, your mob owns half of America. I have so much power over Europe. Our fathers have us working together as soon as I hit 27. We announce our engagement, they'll be happy. We move into my house in Chicago. We stay good friends whilst dating other people" Elena explained
"Sounds...perfect" Mateo said
"And what about the day we get married, what happens in the honeymoon stage?" Mateo asked
"I'll send Jay to Hawaii, we can spend 2 weeks there. You send.." Elena said
"Catalina" Mateo said
"...Catalina to England, spend 2 weeks with her on a romantic sightseeing trip. We come back. Go back to normal but attend events with each other" Elena said
"Your smart Russo, I'll give you that" Mateo smirked

"Engaged?!" Giovanni yelled
"I thought you two hated each other?" Carlo asked
"I saw something in him that I'd never saw before" Elena smiled as she took his hand
"Clearly we had feelings for each other the first time we met, just took us a while to notice" Mateo smiled
"Oh come on gio, this is a good thing! They'll be running the company together. Why not have them married?" Loretta, Mateos mother smiled
"She's got a point" Carlo said
"And plus I think they'll make the cutest kids!" Loretta smiled
"A little early for that mom" Mateo laughed nervously
"Fine, but if this ends horribly don't come running to me" Giovanni said
"Now it's time to start planning your wedding! Oh Elena honey, you'll be the prettiest bride!" Loretta smiled

"Hey you" Jay smiled as he took her hand
"Hey Halstead, who's this?" A cop asked
"My wife, Elena" Jay smiled
"Nice to meet you" Elena smiled
"I swear she was at the bust in Italy?" He said
"What?" Jay laughed
"She was walking by but she got into the car with that Uhh mafia boss?" He said
"I think you've got the wrong person, Elena was at her grandparents. Which is in Naples, your bust wasn't in Naples" Jay explained
"Maybe I have a look a like?" Elena smiled
"Maybe" the cop said
"Have a good nice detective" He said, walking off
"Let me buy you dinner? I wanna hear all about Italy" Jay said as Elena took his arm
"Burgers?" Elena asked
"As always" Jay smiled as he kissed her as they walked out the district
