Daniel's POV
"Who are you?" I ask in shock.

"Why are they after you?" Goldie managed to pant out.

The girl whimpered. She was only a teen, a small girl. Definitely small, given her small body mass and prominent hip bones. Her hair was scraggly and light.

"My name is..." She said in a quiet, squeaky voice. "Clarissa the Traveler." She finished in a full voice.

Her entire body transformed. Her face went from a grayish color to a light tan with no blemishes. Her hair darkened and straightened itself into long, flowing strands. Her skinny appearance became that a short, average lady with flamboyant clothes.

"I couldn't believe my eyes. She was so helpless and now..." I thought.

"Yes, Daniel I did appear helpless. I'm a witch," she said with a smirk.

"Wait how-" Goldie begins.

"I can read minds," Clarissa interrupts, "It seems rude but I only interrupt when I first meet people. It adds to the awe in their mind." She finished with a knowing smile then a laugh.

Their was a moment of silence. We could tell whose side she was on in the dispute. Come to think of it, I could already know her. Only in a different form, under a different alias. One could only wonder.

"Did you take active part in the Great Botanical War?" Goldie asks breaking the silence.

"Yes, I did. What a strange question but one none the less." Clarissa replies.

"Did you take part in the destruction of the mountain kingdom of Syns?" Goldie asks.

"And how would you know?"

"Because I watched the masked villain transform into a woman wear your outfit fly away as the castle crumbled." Goldie said, her words slowly drifting off. "I was there. That was my home. It was destroyed when I was ten. Why would you?" She choked up near the end.

"Because it was sadly the easiest way to fufill the legacy. I'm sorry it had to happen," she said sounding sincerely sorry.

Goldie hugged me, put her face in my chest, and began to sob. "What is this legacy? I've heard Ianite and Sir Hayes speak of it once before, but when I asked they avoided it."

"You'll know. Trust me. It will all be clear soon enough." She said with a wink. Then a light flashed around her, and she disappeared.
