Lunar

Chapter 5

It was pitch black. I heard the sounds of screaming coming from in front of me, yet not in front of me.
I looked at my surroundings. I was in the cave. Other clans had formed and were attacking. "Watch out!" I heard from my side. I spun around but was too late. Once I woke up from unconsciousness, I was blinded by the sun's light looking down at me. And a head.
"Lunar! Lunar! Lunar, wake up!"

I woke up to see Midnight peering at me. I rubbed my eyes with my paws and started grooming myself but Midnight didn't let me finish. He pounced on me, making me lose my balance and toppling over one on of the other wolves in my den.
"Hey, watch it new kid!" He snarled, glaring me. I already knew that I made an enemy in the clan. Way to go, me. Such a great start in my new life. I apologized quickly and ducked out of the den. Warmness rushed over me as I padded toward the old oak tree near the edge of the camp. Leaves fell onto me as I settled into a comfortable spot beside the tree. I resumed grooming myself until Midnight pounced onto me again. Thankfully, the wolf from earlier wasn't nearby or else he would have liked me even worse. I would have to make it up to him and get a good impression later. I put that aside from my mind and started grooming myself once again. This time, I was aware that he would pounce on me again, so when he leapt towards me, I rolled out from under him. But, I ran into that wolf again. He scowled at me and stalked off, padding across the clearing very swiftly. His tail swayed side to side as he walked away and I soon realized that I was staring at him.
"Dude, are you in love with Howl or something?" Midnight asked, saying his name in disgust.
"No, of course not!" I replied saying it a little too loudly and drawing attention. I felt sweaty as my clan mates turned their heads towards me. I pretended that nothing happened and stalked towards the fresh-kill pile. As I was eating my plump vole, I saw apprentices running towards the forests with their mentors. Was I going to have a mentor? Just then, Darkness came out from behind me. I jumped, startled, and almost knocked into him.
"How are you today, Lunar? Are wide wake yet? Are you full yet? You will be training with me today." he said. "I will show you around the forest so you will get to know where the borders are and how to navigate around the forest, the camp, and the caves." He finished with a spooky voice, then laughed. "That always gives the shivers go down their spines. Surprising you didn't get scared." He said, eyeing me.
