The warm April sunshine streamed in through the large glass window of the drawing room, casting a brilliant glow across Karina and Margaret as they sat together on the chaise. They were each holding a pair of twins, one boy and one girl, against their breast. Both mothers couldn't believe that they had delivered their children a month apart from one another.
James and Karina's children, William and Elizabeth, were born on December 29. William had been born first, and Elizabeth five minutes late. William was a spitting image of James, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. Elizabeth was a spitting image of Karina, with chestnut brown hair and blue green eyes.
Arthur and Margaret had welcomed their twins, Richard and Amelia, on January 29. Amelia had been born first, and was a spitting image of Margaret. Richard was identical in appearance to Arthur. Both twins had brown hair, with Richard having blue eyes like his father and Amelia having green eyes like her mother.
Margaret smiled at Karina. "Can you believe we both have a son and a daughter?"
Karina. "I cannot believe it, but I am very glad we do. I'm also glad that they are both pure blood."
Margaret. "I am as well. Do you believe we are going to have more children?"
Karina smiled sweetly. "Possibly, but I'm not sure."
James and Arthur poked their heads into the room, smiling at their wives and children. Both gentlemen couldn't believe that they had a son and daughter to call their own. They had a wife to love and adore. The Bedford and Rochester succession were both complete and secure.
James. "The two of you look very lovely nursing our children."
Arthur. "You certainly do."
Karina. "Thank you, and we believe that the two of you have become wonderful fathers."
Margaret. "Indeed you have. I don't believe Karina and I have ever seen a pair of more devoted fathers than the two of you."
Arthur. "James and I believe that the two of you have become incredible mothers as well."
James. "Absolutely, I don't believe Arthur and I have ever seen a pair of more beautiful mothers than the two of you."
Karina and Margaret exchanged a smile as their husbands came to sit down next to them. They did feel very lucky to have husbands and children to call their own. They had a family, and whether that family grew or not, it didn't matter. There was enough love to cascade around them already. And that love was enough to last them an eternity.
Once they were all nursed, William Elizabeth Richard and Amelia were put to bed for their nap. Thankfully, none of them gave their parents any fuss. Each baby was placed into their respective crib, securely wrapped with a blanket to prevent sickness. Each child was affectionatelyEach child was affectionately and tenderly kissed on the top of their head before they were left in the care of their nursemaids.
James Karina Arthur and Margaret smiled at their children before quietly leaving the nursery. They each had a son and a daughter. They both had two children to love and cherish. Both couples were at peace, and could raise their families without a care in the world. They knew that Francis wasn't going to bother them any longer. No other gentleman or lady was going to come between them.
The two couples stepped out onto the balcony of Bedford Hall, watching the sunlight sparkle off the water. Happiness flowed all around them, and they smiled at each other. Both couples were nearing their one year wedding anniversary, and they couldn't wait to see what came in their future. They didn't know if they would have more children, or whether they would remain married. However, whatever event came their way, they knew that they would be ready for anything.
