Modern Xingqiu Evil Spirit Au (Xingyun)
Chongyun was an exorcist who worked at a church, he was about 21 at the time. A few years back he lost a dear friend of his, Xingqiu, in a house fire.
The moment was traumatizing for him and he went to therapy because of it. After years of slowly healing Chongyun told himself that he could move on.
Now he was praying in the middle of a church, as his mind began to drift from his current action a memory flashed into mind. A navy haired boy with an uneven hair cut turned his head to him, the top half of his face blurred out. A grin appeared on the figured face as it faces Chongyun.
"Chongyun, wanna play a game with me?" Said the voice of his diseased friend. Chongyun's eyes opened quickly and he stood up, glancing around as his heart rate increased.
He could've swore that he heard the voice come from beside him, not from his imagination. He sighed and brushed himself off.
Just your mind tricking you, Chongyun. Nothing more. He told himself as he grabbed his back and head out of the church.
He opened one of the doors and looked outside, watching the rain fall against the ground. He brought out his umbrella and opened it, holding it above his head as he began to walk home.
He listened as the rain pattered against the top of the umbrella. The street was mostly empty, only a stray car driving past him now and then. It made sense, it was getting dark and no one really went on walks in the dark.
Chongyun took a turn and ended up at his home, he walked up and took his keys out of his right coat pocket. As he was about to open the door he got another memory flash, this time was different.
Flaming pieces of wood fell from the ceiling as the house crashed around him. There laid a body, under many pieces of burnt wood just half of its body was viewable. As Chongyun's hand reached out for the figure his hand hit the door knob and the memory faded.
Chongyun shook his head and opened the door, closing and locking it behind himself. He took off his jacket and hung it on the coat rack, shaking out his umbrella before putting it away.
Turning on a dim light Chongyun passed by a table, he reached out and picked up a picture. The picture showed three people; him, his aunt, and Xingqiu.
He sighed and placed the picture down, this time flat so he couldn't look at the photo. Chongyun head for his room, once he got there he opened the door and walked inside.
He glanced across the room and looked at the window, he went over to it and leaned on the window sill. Chongyun watched as rain drops dripped down the glass, as Chongyun's eyes came onto of focus he looked at his reflection.
There were visible dark makes under his eyes and he looked tired. He sighed and rubbed his face with his right hand.
"This is what I get for wanting to be an exorcist..." he muttered, but as his hand went down his face he saw something different in the reflection.
For a seconded it looked as if there was a silhouette behind him, Chongyun quickly spun around but nothing was there. He blinked and rubbed his eyes but nothing. Chongyun felt off now, the memory flashes and now this...
something was wrong. He practiced breathing tactics as he walked out of his bedroom and went to the bathroom which was down the hall.
He turned on the light and walked inside, he opened the medicine cabinet and looked for his meds. He reached for the spot it normally sat but it wasn't there. "What?" He muttered to himself as he checked the whole cabinet.
After checking the cabinet he looked on the floor and found the container in the far corner of the room. Chongyun hesitantly walked over and picked it up, the lid was slightly off centered and the side of it was cracked. It seemed as if it was thrown.
Did I... hit it when I took them this morning? He questioned as he opened the bottle, he was about to take the meds when he heard a crash. Getting curious he out the prescribed medication down and went to the living room.
Chongyun glanced around before finding the source of the crash, it was the picture he had put down. He picked it back up and noticed a crack had appeared in the glass.
Chongyun moved his hand over the glass, looking at where the damage had accrued. The picture of three now had a shatter mark across the figure that was Xingqiu.
Chongyun thought this was strange but just put the picture back on the table. The room began to feel colder, Chongyun felt as goosebumps speared across his arms.
His eyebrows grew together as he walked into the middle of the living room, which it where it was the coldest. Subconsciously, Chongyun brought out a small cross that he always had in his back pocket.
He glanced around the room, seeing nothing. That was until he felt something on his shoulder, it felt like a cold hand.
Chongyun turned his head and saw a dark shadow. He quickly moved away and backed up, starring at what had made contact with him.
The black silhouette began to smoke as it transformed, from the bottom up it turned into a humanoid figure. A thin demonic tail flicked back and forth behind it as its legs were revealed.
It slowly walked towards Chongyun as it showed its true form. Chongyun continued to back up until he hit a wall. The figure moved closer as it became fully visible, two black horns appeared on the top of its head.
It's soulless yellow eyes opened as it grinned, leaning forward to inspect Chongyun's face. Chongyun's breathing quickened as he was met with the spirit of a familiar person.
"Xi... X-Xingqiu?" He questioned through a shaky breaths.
"Bingo~" it hummed as it stopped in front of Chongyun, lifting its hand up to Chongyun's chin. As it tilted Chongyun's head up its tail flicked.
"Missed me, dear Chongyun~?"
