The Feiyun Beast

A story where Xingqiu is a dragon who hoards books and scrolls and Chongyun is an exorcist looking for knowledge.

There are many stories and rumors about dragons in Liyue. Most seem to fly right past Chongyun's train of thought but there is one that has always piqued his interest.

The story of the Feiyun beast. It is said that if a soul in desperate need of knowledge passes by its chambers it'll grant them a wish for knowledge.

There are many rumors regarding this topic and it's one of the most famous. But most people dare not to seek out this beast, as it is said to banish anyone who is greedy for knowledge and not in need.

Chongyun wishes to become a strong and noble exorcist, he always has. But with his Yang energy that has become extremely difficult.

He often doesn't get paid either since he mostly just sits and looks around before leaving. That's all he has to do to get an evil spirit away.

As the exorcist was walking down town he heard the words "Feiyun beast" and decided to listen.

"The Feiyun beast? That fairy tale?"

"Yes. The tale is true, I've seen the creature."

"Psh, that's impossible."

"It's far from impossible! While on an exposition I passed by a large pond. Just below the water was a giant serpent like monster."

"So? That could've been anything."

"I don't think so. Once I got closer to take a look it leaped out of the depths and hurried off in a random direction. It was large, covered in blue and gold scales. Fins and spikes ran down its back along with navy hair."

"That does fit the description of most of the stories.."

"You see? It had to have been the Feiyun beast!"

"Where did you even encounter it?"

"North of Qingce Village by a mountain."

"That place is crawling with treasure hoarders, how did you even get by?"

"I don't know, call me lucky."

Chongyun listened up until that point and he walked away. Qingce village. Hm, alright then.

The exorcist then gathered some supplies before heading off.

As the male made his way he encountered plenty of treasure hoarders just like the men said. But they were no match for Chongyun, he easily got rid of them.

Chongyun had left around noon and it was now raining and getting late, the sun slowly setting behind the clouds in the horizon.

The light haired boy began looking around for a safe place to rest, he found a cave and headed inside. Chongyun ran his hand against the cold walls as he held out his vision for some light.

Though this also caused the water on him to freeze and fall off. The sound of the exorcists' footsteps mixed with the sound of dropping ice awoke something deep inside the cave.

Chongyun was too busy being wrapped in his own thoughts he hadn't noticed something coming towards him, before he could blink a large snout appeared in front of him.

The male yelped and fell back, dropping his vision in the process. What stood before him was a dragon, its navy blue scales shining against the dim light given from his cryo vision.

Cold scales formed a pattern down its sides and body, the frills on the side of its head opened and closed as it sniffed the man in front of itself.

The dragon then circled him, sniffing the air and flicking its long tail as it paused once more. Its head lowered and it gently nudged the cryo vision with its nose, moving towards the exorcist. Chongyun quickly took it and clipped it back onto his waist.
