11. THE EGYPTIAN COVEN

THE FOLLOWING DAY WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR compared to the gloomy weather that greeted us upon our arrival. As we waited for more vampires to join us, I had the pleasure of getting to know the Denali Coven.

Tanya, the leader, was a woman of ancient Slovakian descent. She was Sasha's first adoptive daughter and also her biological great-niece. When Sasha yearned for companionship, she chose Tanya to join her. Over time, Sasha added two more vampires to their family, Kate and Irina. They were as close as any family could be.

Kate, also known as Katrina, was once an attendant to a highborn female of a warlike Slavic tribe. She was a skilled martial artist and fiercely protective of her mistress. When Sasha attacked the caravan Kate was guarding, she was so impressed by Kate's courage and physical resemblance to Tanya that she turned her into a vampire. Kate quickly became loyal to Sasha and Tanya, and her defensive power began to develop within a decade.

Irina was the third vampire added to the coven. As a human, she was a pretty peasant girl living in a small farm community. Sasha saw the physical resemblance she had to Tanya and Kate and decided to add her as a new sister to her 'daughters'. Irina, Tanya, and Kate loved their mother as much as she loved them.

However, everything changed when Sasha's crime of creating an immortal child was revealed. Tanya and her sisters were spared execution by the Volturi, but their mother's death left them traumatized. As a result, they became purists of vampire laws, determined to uphold them at all costs.

The Denali Coven had seen its fair share of newcomers over the years, but none quite like Eleazar and Carmen. They were the last to join, but their arrival was met with a sense of excitement and curiosity that had been absent for some time.

Eleazar, with his Spanish roots and centuries-old existence, was a mystery to all who met him. His exact date of birth and the identity of his creator remained shrouded in secrecy, adding to his enigmatic aura. But what was known about him was his unique ability to sense the special talents of others, a gift that had earned him a place in the Volturi guard.

Despite his reservations about the Volturi's methods, Eleazar believed he was serving the greater good by working with those who upheld the law. It was during his time with the guard that he met Carmen, and their instant connection was undeniable. They tried to balance their love life with Eleazar's duties, but the violence of his everyday life eventually took its toll on Carmen.

After seeking permission from Aro, Eleazar and Carmen left the Volturi and embarked on a nomadic journey in search of a more compassionate lifestyle. It was during this journey that they stumbled upon the Denali coven, and they were immediately drawn to their 'vegetarianism'. Tanya, the leader of the coven, invited them to stay and try out their lifestyle, and they quickly fell in love with the peaceful way of life.

For Eleazar and Carmen, joining the Denali coven was a permanent decision. They had found a sense of belonging and acceptance that they had never experienced before, and they were grateful for the opportunity to live among like-minded individuals. As the last to join the coven, they had finally found their true home.

I pitied for them as I tried to fathom the turmoil they must be experiencing with Irina. The mere thought of their coven mate falsely accusing them of a crime and reporting it to the Volturi was enough to send shivers down my spine. The inner conflict they must be grappling with is beyond comprehension. I can't help but wonder if their bond will ever be restored to its former glory.

As I traipsed through the dense forest, my senses heightened by the thrill of the hunt, I was accompanied by two of my closest companions: Jacob and Renesmee. Edward and Bella had informed me that Renesmee enjoyed hunting with Jacob, but I couldn't be sure if she knew about his imprinting on her. Regardless, she seemed unfazed by it all. Jacob was in his wolf form, with Renesmee perched atop him like a queen on her throne.
