"Y/N glad to see you again. Take a seat." Mr. Hawkins said, and I followed suit.
It's been a while since I saw Mr. Hawkins. The last time we talked I discussed how my life was finally taking a route in the right direction. I had a loving girlfriend, me and my family were closer than ever before, and I received a big promotion at work!
At the same time, good things couldn't last forever.
"Hey, Mr. Hawkins... How have y-you been...?" I mumbled, and Mr. Hawkins could tell there was something up already.
"Y/N did you get any sleep last night... You look a little... Tired?"
"It's much more than that... I lost my mom... Cynthia broke up with me, and I was canned from the publishing company..." I admitted to Mr. Hawkins, and he immediately got sympathetic.
"Dear me! Y/N I'm so sorry for all of this. How are you holding up? Did you remember to use our coping skills?" Mr. Hawkins reminded you, that not a single coping skill could help you out in a moment like this.
"I'm not doing so well. I've been up nights contemplating what I'm even going to do with my life. It's like my whole world collapsed in front of me... What am I even going to do?"
It took a second or two for Mr. Hawkins to respond... Of course, this was a lot of information for him to handle. The last time you saw him you were a totally different person, but now I was a disheveled mess.
"I would say there are more fish in the sea, but I'm not seventeen years old. However, there is someone out there for everyone. Also if you'd like you can become a health insurance agent. They would be happy to train you. My wife is one of the top sellers and she makes six figures! For your mother... She was an amazing woman, and I can see why you are so upset by her death. I know it feels like the end of the world for you, but you still have others that care about you. She will always be there... In your heart, and I am sure you will carry on her memory for the rest of your life." Mr. Hawkins described to me, and I felt slightly pleased.
At the same time, I still had to tell him what happened the other night... The night you almost ended it all.
"It's not that easy. The other night I was contemplating ending it all..."
"Oh my god Y/N. Please don't think of doing that ever again, and if you do you can come to me straight away. Okay." Mr. Hawkins stated with the utmost seriousness in his voice.
"Well, I changed my mind after I met someone. Someone that I still need to thank for saving my life. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be sitting in front of you right now Mr. Hawkins."
"Okay describe this woman to me. What exactly did she do or say to you that convinced you otherwise."
That is when I started to describe what happened last night...
It was a cold mid-October night, and every night for the past few years I would go on a nightly stroll. However today I was planning to do something more drastic.
I was going to end it all.
As I was standing in front of the deep lake I could only think about what gifts I would receive in heaven or wherever I was going. Could I finally see my mother again? Was my perfect girl in heaven? Maybe in heaven, I would finally have the life I always wanted.
I climbed on top of one of the benches that were on the bridge, and any moment now I could simply jump into the deep lake and let the water take me.
It took me a moment to finally attempt to jump, but before I went for it I heard a voice make me stop.
"W-wait! D-don't jump!" I heard a nervous voice yelling at me, and I turned around to see the most beautiful girl in the world.
She looked like an enchanted princess from another land. Not literally, but she looked like she came out of a movie. She was that beautiful.
"I'm sorry, but this isn't your business. You don't know half of what I have been through." I argued with her but turns out I was very wrong.
"I- I- I do... The feeling your world has come to an end, the feeling that you are worthless and that no one would miss you when you are gone. That is all a fallacious remark. You have people that care about you, and they would be h-heartbroken if you took your life. Please step down..."
After what she said I don't know why I stepped down, but in that moment it was like I was in a trance in a way.
"T-thank you... But why did you stop me? I'm sure many other people would of just let me jump."
"I was like you before, and someone saved me. Now I am simply returning the favor to that someone by saving you." She stated you felt charmed by this woman.
"Well thank you..."
"Can you promise me that you will never try something like this again?"
".... I promise..."
You expected that to be the last time you saw or even talked to the woman. However she wasn't done with you.
She began writing down a number on a page from her book, and she handed it to you. On the paper was her number, and you blushed. This was the first time a girl gave you a number ever since you first met Cynthia.
"I want you to call me tomorrow night. I want to know that you are okay... I'm worried about you." She confessed to me, and I felt glad that she cared that much about me even though we only first met.
"O-okay... I'll call."
"Thank you."
That is when she went up to leave, but I didn't even get her name...
"Excuse me! Ma'am!"
"Yes?"
"I didn't catch your name..." You told her, and she slightly tittered at her mistake.
"Yuri... Yuri Kuroyanagi..." She told me, and that was the last thing she said to me.
"That is all that happened. Yuri saved my life, and tonight I am going to tell her I am okay... Well at least physically..." I concluded, and Mr. Hawkins nodded before replying.
"This Yuri girl seems very nice. Maybe she is what you need right now."
"Maybe..."
However that night I didn't decide to call. Instead, I sat on the same bench the night before.
After sitting around for an hour listening to the owl's hoot, the wind blowing my hair, and reading my favorite book. The Book of Markov.
As I was reading my favorite chapter I felt an arm on my shoulder, and it was Yuri.
