"Don't-! Khael, please no-!" So many people she cared about had died but not him. please gods, not him, anyone but him.
"It's okay-" Khael choked on his own blood as he cut himself off to cough violently. There was no getting away from this. He didn't want to. "It's okay. Don't cry, Ellie."
"Please don't. Please Gods. Please don't do this! Not him." She sobbed violently as she cradled him, unable to do anything to stop his bleeding.
Khael couldn't feel anything, his body was completely numb to all of it. He raised a hand to his best friend's face, leaving a trail of blood on her. "It's okay, as long as you live, it's okay."
"IT'S NOT!" Elisa sobbed, clinging to him as everything around her bled red.
Elisa jolts awake from her nightmare with fearful eyes to find herself in a train compartment with her newfound companion, a cat named Akshay, on her lap.
The nightmares never got easier, the only got worse after the war had ended. Nightmares about Bianca and her walk through the pits of the underworld, turned into nightmares of Khael, of her failure to save her friend.
Akshay, a small black cat with glowing golden eyes, meowed up at her. He reached his paw up to touch her face and she tried her best to calm down her racing heart.
"I'm fine." She breathed out in an effort to calm herself as she pet him softly. "We're alright."
Elisa blanked out everything else. Changing into the school robes, getting off the train, heading over to the vast castle they called a school. She ignored the stares that seared into her. She was used to people staring at her.
She blanked out until she came face to face with Albus Dumbledore as he smiled reassuringly down at her.
"Hello dear. Miss Di Angelo, yes?" He spoke to her softly like you speak to a spooked animal and it both soothed her and irritated her.
She swallowed her urge to lash out at him treating her like a mistreated animal that had been injured. "Yes." She spoke quietly. "Lady Hecate and Chiron have already given me the basics. I am to be sorted into a house and spend the rest of my three years here studying and finding answers." Her voice was assertive, she was sure of what she was supposed to do but make friends? Elisa didn't make friends, people instantly just assumed she was evil, a villainess and a monster.
Albus could feel her restraint and felt bad for her. She was a child to him, fifteen year old and survived two wars. She was a broken person trying to get better, to do more than survive. He cleared his throat and nodded. "Yes, I was also informed of everything else. Purebloods and Magical-raised half-bloods will most likely know who you are. Are you prepared for that, Miss Di Angelo?"
He reminded her of Chiron, just a little bit. The way he spoke with concern to her despite the fact that he didn't even know her, the eternal wisdom he carried. The way he called her 'Miss Di Angelo' reminded her of the way Chiron called her 'Young Elisa.'
"I'm used to stares and people's curiosity. I didn't come here to make friends." Elisa voice turned harsh as she stared up at him with her brown eyes. "I came at Lady Hecate's request. Everything else is extra." Elisa looked away from him as the mark on her pulsed, reminding her that he was near. Her soulmate, Caelum. She still didn't know how she felt.
"Yes, let's sort you then." Albus guided her out to the masses as he urged them to quiet down from their loud chatter. "Good evening, we have a special circumstance transfer from America. Please welcome her kindly." He guided her towards Professor McGonagall, a stern woman who seemed kind enough.
"Please, this way." Mcgonagall gestured for her to sit down in the chair with a wave of her hand.
Elisa did so, avoiding looking up as the hat was placed on her head. She was used to eyes being on her they didn't bother her.
Calm.... Stay calm....
Her mark burned down, reminding her of the proximity to her other half. Her granted other half.
To everyone else, the hat was silent for minutes before shouting out. "SLYTHERIN!" said table cheered loudly, welcoming the new serpent, the clever and dark daughter of Hades to their table.
"Hey, that's Lord Hades daughter right?" Blaise whispered to Pansy, an intrigued loom upon his face. "Who would've thought she'd be a Slytherin."
"I obviously knew." Draco bragged as Pansy snorted into her hand, side eyeing him.
Caelum, sitting in between Pansy and Theo, had his eyes glued on her. Grey-blue eyes never left Elisa as she got up. Her tie changed to green and silver and she walked forwards, her face set in an unreadable expression.
"She's quite pretty, and her movements are very confident but elegant." Daphne spoke up besides Astoria and it was a very true observation. Elisa moved with purpose but with a certain grace. She was fast on her feet, necessary for a demigod.
"I heard from my grandfather that Lord Hades daughter has the mind of a scholar but the demeanor of a war veteran." Theo whispered to Draco as they all watched her descend from the stool as start to walk over to the Slytherin table.
A curiosity burned at Caelum, something different was happening this year that was tied to her and he'd never been able to stay away from a good challenge.
Elisa finally looked up and brown eyes looked with grey-blue eyes, and in that moment. It seemed as if both of their worlds had come to life.
Something different was going to happen this year, Caelum was determined to for it to happen to him. He was determined for those eyes to look at him with anything other than an expression he could not read.
Even as Elisa sat down, in the seat that was a bit away from them, they both had different reactions in their mind.
One half of the soul bond was determined to sate his curiosity and the other was cursing the boy and his grey-blue eyes.
She is certainly a god's daughter. I can feel it from here.
What the actual fuck Lady Hecate!?
