Wooyoung had a foreboding feeling clawing at his heart since morning and his intuition had proved right just mere hours after.

A hurried knock on the door interrupted the otherwise peaceful luncheon.

"Come in," The emperor said.

A soldier rushed inside looking at him with wide, terrified eyes.

"Your Majesty, there has been an attack on the border. There have been reports of soldiers being killed and civilians being taken captive."

Wooyoung froze mid bite and his stomach plummeted to the floor. He felt sick, a wave of nausea overtook him as he realized what this meant. His heart was racing against his ribcage as if it wanted out of its cage.

It was happening.

But it's too early. There was still a week left until his birthday.

"Do you have any idea who it is?"

The emperor asked, trying to keep
his voice from shaking. Wooyoung barely heard him over the tumultuous outcry of his heart.

"They are very well armed, sir. We've never seen so many weapons before, sir."
The emperor took a deep breath and stood up.

"San, call in my generals. I want the whole army ready for anything. It is probably just a small group who think they can get away with taking over our borders but I need everyone to be ready for anything."

"Yes, father. Will you be attending the attack?" San asked.

The emperor nodded.

"Of course. You and Wooyoung will stay here and prepare the army, make sure that nothing gets in or out until we are done with whatever we're dealing with."

He walked towards the front gate where a carriage was waiting. He climbed into it. The guard climbed onto the back seat.

Wooyoung could feel his hands trembling. A small bead of sweat ran down his forehead. He tried to swallow but his mouth was too dry and he couldn't stop shaking.

His eyes were locked on the man sitting beside him, who seemed as lost as he felt. They didn't say anything for several moments.

"Are you alright? You look like you're going to faint," San finally broke the silence, his brows furrowed.

Wooyoung blinked rapidly then shook his head. He wasn't okay, in fact, he felt sick to the stomach.

He looked away, not able to meet anyone's gaze.
"I'm fine," Wooyoung croaked. He knew he sounded weak.

"You don't have to pretend, I know something is wrong. Are you scared?"

"No," Wooyoung replied, forcing himself to meet his husband's stare.

"Come on, we have lot's to prepare for the potential battle ahead, let's go," San urged.

"Right," Wooyoung mumbled, getting up from his chair.

They walked to the court room together. Once again, all the people had already gathered there and were standing silently, their gazes fixed on the door.

There were no sounds coming from outside, the only thing that could be heard were the quiet murmurs between the officials around them.
Wooyoung and San went to their seats.

"As you might be well aware, there has been an attack on the border,"
San began, his voice steady.

"We do not know what it means for us to fight or defend ourselves but we must be prepared just in case."
