When Eloise Harlow would think about death, she was always certain that she would be the one to end her own life.
She did not see death as scary anymore, not in the state she had been the last four years. Or nineteen years if you will. She could remember a time she was truly happy, a time where she had the desire to wake up the next day. But whenever she remembered that time, the person that made her so unbelievably happy, she felt like she'd throw up.

For Eloise, true love was only found in her friend, Penny. Penny was the most beautiful girl she had ever laid eyes upon, the purest soul Eloise has ever had the luck of finding. Penny had never hurt her before, she was a woman with dreams and ambition and she was so amazing to Eloise. She was always there for her, they had never fought for more than an hour and she was always the more responsible person. She was smart, and observant and would always listen to Eloise. She was two years older then Eloise and had her own small house she shared with her grandma in La Push. Just an hour drive from Eloise's place. A place she wanted to sent to hell and watch it burn slowly. A place she felt trapped in and a place that would suck every bit of happiness she could offer out of her and feed it to the devil himself, William.

He used to be everything Eloise wished for and she believed she would marry him someday. She believed that he was truly her soulmate, her missing piece.

Perhaps it was because he helped her in such a dark time, after her mother turned alcoholic and her father ran and she was bullied and a cast-out in her school, he was there and he seemed like a light in an endless tunnel. Perhaps it was his sweet way with his words and the way he was the first boy that ever truly glanced in her way, maybe it was the reason she forgave him the first time he's hit her.

Because, maybe, if she wasn't so damn annoying and loud, he wouldn't have. At least that's what he said.

But after four years, they first kissed when she was fifteen, they lived together in the hell he called home. She couldn't remember the amount of times she'd cover up a bruise on her cheek or wash blood off her lip before driving to work.

The amount of times he'd leave in a fight, going to bars and to hang out with his friends. The amount of times he'd told her to just suck his dick so her mouth would do something useful for once.

Sex had became unbearable for her. If she'd say no, he wouldn't let her sleep, rambling the whole night about how bad she was hurting him and about how much he really desired her love. How others would kill for a love like theirs. She would give in. Sometimes she'd throw up after.

She knew she was stupid for staying with him, but the last four years, she'd hoped for small changes. But of course, after a while, her love for him turned into nothingness. She wouldn't cry when he would stay the night out, she'd rather be disappointed when he came back.

Maybe she got tired of it.

So one October night, she was ready for her life to change. He was passed out from partying the whole weekend and she was so glad. She had called Penny a week beforehand, asking if her offer to move in with her grandma and her was still available. Penny knew about her situation, as did her grandma, and they always begged her to stay with them.
Penny had promised her a plan to escape, Eloise had no car, not even a license. And she was so so scared he would catch her running away.
Penny assured her that on Friday night, at two thirty, a car would be parked outside her house and Eloise made sure to make as many drinks as William wanted, so he would be sleeping tight.

And he did.

When she packed her back, when she took everything she owned in a small suitcase and a backpack he did not bat an eyelash. When her phone ringed and she received the message, he stayed put.

Unknown: I'm here -Embry Call

Hoping he wouldn't catch her, she quietly went down the stairs, walking outside and putting her suitcase in the trunk of Embry Calls car.

She then went to his opened window so she could see the boy for the first time. He had chopped, dark hair and tan skin. He looked pretty, like everyone on the reservation Eloise used to visit sometimes. Penny looked similar to him. He sent her a pitying smile. He glanced at her bruised cheekbone.

„Thank you so much, I'll just get my bag and my jacket and I'll be right outside, just stay here please. Whatever happens don't come in." she whispered, patting his arm that was resting on the opened window.

She quickly jogged inside and put her bag over her shoulder. She smiled to herself slightly as she grabbed her jacket but just as she put it over her arm, she heard his voice.

„Where do you think you're going?" he asked. His voice was dark and Eloise quickly whipped around with shaking hands.
She thought about lying to him, her brain scrambled with possible things she could be doing at this time.
But she decided to be truthful and carefully grabbed a small lamp that was behind her. She was glad it was dark and even gladder that he was drunk so he didn't really notice.

„I'm leaving Will. I-I don't think this works anymore." a tear escaped and she was trying to stop her lip from trembling.

„You are not leaving me El, you are going back to sleep and you're gonna apologise for the nonsense you're doing." he said, finger pointing up and walking towards her until he stood right infront of her, her back to the wall and her eyes squeezed shut.

„Will I—" she started but was quickly shut down by his yelling in her face.

„You are not leaving Eloise!" he screamed at her, his fist colliding with the wall next to her and droplets of spit landing on her cheek as she turned her head in fear that she would be hit again.
She whimpered and Embry was fighting hard with himself to stay in the car and listen to her quiet crying.

William stroked her cheek, his hands loosely wrapping around her neck before he suddenly started squeezing, stealing her of all the air she could possibly breathe.

"You're leaving me? After everything I've done for you? After I saved you from the alcoholic you call a mother?" He barked at her, staring her dead in the eyes.

„Will stop." she choked out, her head starting to feel dizzy.

But he didn't stop and she believed that this was how she would die. She would not kill herself and she would not live with Penny and she would not get to live.

"Do you even know how hard it is to love you? How hard the past years were for me" he asked her and if she wasn't in the situation she was in right now, she would have scoffed.

She was almost on the point of passing out before she took everything she had in her, raised her arm and for the first time, hurt William. She smashed the lamp on his head but he was quick to catch himself again and punch her in the face as hard as he could.

Adrenaline rushed through her veins and maybe knowing that her escape to this life was just outside her door. So she ran to the door, grabbing her jacket and bag off the ground and quickly opened it.
Running down the stairs, she spit out droplets of blood before running towards Embry's car.
She saw the passengers door already opened by Embry and she quickly jumped inside.

She felt bad when she heard William scream in pain, most likely stepping on a piece of glass on the ground but she couldn't find herself to care.

„Drive, please!" she begged, tears leaving her eyes and her chest heaving with anxiety, adrenaline and pain.

Embry quickly took off and when she looked in the rearview mirror and caught sight of a drunk William standing in the middle off the street, screaming and throwing a fit, she laughed through the tears. Even tho she felt bad for the pain she caused, she was finally free and she had never felt the way she did right now. As if she was breathing for the first time in four years.

She smiled and giggled and Embry watched her weirded out but smiled nonetheless.
