A/N:Pure angst.Suffer my children!Anyways imma do fluff after this :3
Guili plains,A mysterious enemy appears and reveals itself there.Tho the adepti didnt sense it,Xiao and Aether did.They went to Guili plains,and was shocked to see the creature itself.It was half corrupted and Had horn like thorns all over its skin.It was the definition of "nightmare" As it was infact,Xiao's very first nightmare to get scared of.It will not be just a nightmare,it was going to be real.
Aether,went in the fight to kill it.He unleashed his elemental skill and burst to which did nothing to the creature.Xiao did the same and it only bruised it,for a little while......it healed rather quickly.The fight lasted a whole day until Aether's stamina was so little he had to give up.Xiao is also nearing the end of his stamina.
He cannot let both of them die......HE WONT LET IT.He tried to do something but just got flinged in the air.The creature went for Aether and was heading to him.Xiao's stamina had already gave up but he still tried.....to no avail.
As the creature got near Aether it launched an attack.The boy had already fallen unconscious,thus he became vulnerable.Xiao could only watch as his body stopped moving.The attack dropped on Aether,killing him in the process.Before he died he launched a counter attack to which the creature did not anticipate thus creating a loop hole.During that time Xiao used his all to kill it.He became exhausted,He still cannot let himself fall unconscious cause he wanted to see Aether.
He was terrified......terrified to even move away.His lover......is now dead
"No...no...This cant be real......NO! THIS MUST BE A NIGHTMARE!THIS ISNT REAL!"He kept repeating that over and over again.Traumatized,he went to Aether's body ,crying.Soon arrived the millelith and zhongli aswell as cloud retainer.
Zhongli inquired to why the millelith is here,they said there were inquiries of a huge battle here.Zhongli looked around and saw....Xiao unconscious in Aether's dead body.He...was also terrified."SUCH HEINOUS CRIME!WHO WOULD DARE DO THIS!"cloud retainer yelled.Zhongli went to the 2 boys and looked for a pulse.He found none in Aether which meant he already died.He found a small one in Xiao's.He carried both the bodies and went to wangshu inn and placed Xiao into his bed.He wanted to carry Aether to the funeral parlor because hes already dead.But Xiao awoke and said"Please....let me mourn in his body for a while.....please..".Zhongli was amused as to Xiao's request.He decided to agree to his request and laid his body next to Xiao's.
"You should rest"Zhongli said."I will"Xiao responded in a sad tone.Zhongli left.He looked to Aether's face bec its the last time hes going to see it.He still cant believe hes dead,gone,forever.He sobbed nonstop."I should have not let you join me in that mission!I shouldve just not told you!".He fell silent.
After a while he fell asleep.Zhongli arrived and woke him up because he was going to take Aether's body now.He agreed and went with Zhongli.
They placed him in a coffin.Hu tao was not pleased with his customer.She was saddened this time.Xiao teared up and went outside to get some air.His thoughts was 'I should have been the one to die,I SHOULDVE STEPPED IN THE ATTACK! atleast by then you couldve been alive.
Zhongli went to Xiao."Dont blame yourself.I know what you're thoughts are right now.Dont blame yourself,He decided to sacrifice himself because he loved you....he wanted you to live.Blaming yourself would only taint his reasoning on sacrificing himself."Zhongli said,Xiao still didnt stop blaming himself."You know....He said to me one time when we chatted that he loved you deeply.Although he is busy he always thought about you.All day and night.Im sure he'll be sad if he knew you're blaming youself because of him.So.....please...Stop blaming yourself"Zhongli said...It was the first time he said it in a worried look and the word "please" in a sorry state.
Xiao thought about this and stopped blaming himself.He didnt want Aether to be sad.
After a while the funeral was brought to mondstat to inform his friends of his passing.All of them:Knights of favionius members,adventurers guild,Fischl,bennett,Mona,Venti and others went to his coffin to see if its true.And it was.They were all saddened and some teared up.
After the viewing they buried it in windrise to where the wind will always guide his spirit.They built a statue for him also in windrise.
Few years after
Xiao went to his statue and grave and offered his daily flowers and stories.He teared up a little bit.
"I wish your just here...alive...hugging me and telling me lovely things...I missed you so much"
"Please Celestia Do some miracle or anything i just want him to be back...I cant take it....it felt so lonely without you..."
"Maybe its just wishful thinking"

Xiao said in a saddened expression
"I missed you too you know..."
Xiao was shocked.That voice....He must be insane...He looked back and saw...there....Aether....
He was shocked and speechless.He went fast and hugged him.He didnt care even if it was a dream.
Aether giggled"I missed you so much!"
"are you...real?"Xiao asked
"Yeah...I dont know how but I am!"Aether said in a reassuring voice
Xiao kissed him and Aether kissed back.Both were tearing up.
'Thank you...' Xiao said in his mind
