Day Three

Aquaman went for a dip in the lake. The cool water felt refreshing on his open wound. Fish were swimming deep below, but something about them seemed... off. Not a single one came when he beckoned them. Any other fish, crustacean, or sea mammal in the world would have raced to his aid, yet for some reason, none of these did.

Tony spat out a mouthful of blood as he was punched in the face again.

"I'm telling you.... it doesn't work anymore. The blast fried it. Even if I wanted to help you, and that's a big if, there's nothing I could do."

Wolverine's claw shot out, stopping just below his captive's throat.

"You made a suit of armor out of a box of scraps, but you can't fix an arc reactor that YOU yourself created? Something about that doesn't seem right."

Starfire fidgeted in place for a second before gliding forward.

"Is this really necessary? What if he is telling the truth? What if-"

"The day Tony Stark tells the truth is the day I start wearing pink tutus and take up dance classes."

Suddenly, Starfire flew next to him, grinning and wide-eyed.

"Oh, you would look so cute in the tutu! And I think pink is a more natural color for you anyways!"

Wolverine let out a deep sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"If I have to explain sarcasm one more time-"

He stopped mid-sentence as he realized that Tony was no longer in front of him. He turned towards Starfire, who just looked off to the side, face beet red.

"Uh... whoops."

Hawkeye wearily rose up from a deep slumber. He immediately noticed that something was off. Last night, he was fighting alongside Iron Man and Thor in a heavily-wooded area. But now, he was all alone on the side of a mountain. How did he get here?

This train of thought was cut short when a red blur knocked him to the ground as it sped past. He quickly got back up and pulled out his bow, only to find that nobody was there. Clint looked in the direction it went, trying to find the culprit.

"Oof. A bit too slow there."

Hawkeye whirled around and shot an arrow... at a stone wall. Was he going crazy? The voice definitely came from over th-

"Missed me!"

A sharp punch to the gut caused Clint to double over, gasping for air. Flash chuckled as he took a step back.

"You know, I'm the fastest man alive in my universe. Any speedsters on your Earth? I bet I could run miles around them in less time than it would take for you to blink."

While Flash was busy talking, Hawkeye pulled an arrow out from his quiver and fired it at him. The arrowhead split open, and a cable wrapped around his legs.

"H-Hey! What are you doi-?"

He didn't even have a chance to finish the sentence before the next arrow penetrated his skull, killing him instantly. Hawkeye put away his weapon and stared at the corpse. It felt good. This one was for her.

Superman woke up with a strange burning sensation around his throat. He reached his hand up to feel for the source but quickly jerked back as something burned at his skin. It felt oddly familiar though.

After searching for a few minutes, he finally found a stream of water that was calm enough to use as a mirror. A black collar with silver lining was wrapped around his neck, and in the center of it was a glowing green gem.
