Blade sat alone at the new Fantastic Four base. It had been over an hour since they left, and he was starting to get a little bit bored. There were only so many times one could sharpen a stick into a wooden stake before it got repetitive.

A loud ringing sound caught his attention. It was a bell from one of the outside traps. Something must have gotten stuck. Brandishing his signature sword, he ventured off into the dark.

It only took a few seconds to find the source of the problem. Tony Stark, Thor, Bruce Banner, and Hawkeye were all caught in the same net.

"What do we have here? A couple of Avengers thinking they can put a stop to us? Well, guess what! Those monsters from the other world, they're here to kill us all, and we're the only ones who can put a stop to-"

"Excuse me, I think you're confused," Tony interrupted him mid-sentence.

Blade cocked an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"You see, we're not here to try and stop you from killing these invaders. We're here to help you finish them off."

Superman spent the whole night creating makeshift weapons and shields out of wood pieces and whatever sharp rocks he could find.

Aquaman hurled his trident with all his might. It went soaring through the air. Right as it was about to hit... the deer jumped out of the way and galloped into the forest.

Atlantis's king let out a vulgar cry out of frustration. After taking a moment to calm himself, he walked over to the trident that was now sticking out of a log.

Before he could grasp the hilt, something went flying past his face. He turned to see Batman glaring at him, Green Lantern at his side.

"Oh, it's just you two. I thought I was in danger for a second." Aquaman gave a hearty laugh as he embraced the two in a quick but firm hug.

"Arthur, this is serious. Robin is dead. We need to find out who's responsible and bring them to justice." Batman's voice betrayed no emotion, though the look of rage in his eyes was enough to make them both go silent.

Green Lantern cleared his throat. "Bruce is right. I hate to say this, but it seems like these villains aren't the kind to go down easy. We might have to..." He trailed off, looking into the woods.

"Have to what? We already agreed that the viking is as good as dead, but the others-"

"To hell with them," Batman said sharply. "We're going to kill them. All of them."

At the top of the mountain, half a dozen heroes milled around aimlessly. Some were engaging in small talk while others were simply waiting to see what the big announcement was going to be.

A black portal opened up, grabbing everyone's attention. Raven stepped out. Beast Boy and Cyborg followed shortly after.

"Sorry. It took me a while to find these two. They can be su-"

Beast Boy jumped back in alarm, pointing a shaky finger at Ghost Rider.

"D-Dude! You did not tell me that Mr. Flaming Skeleton Man was going to be here!" he said, trying to hide behind an equally-frightened Cyborg.

Doctor Strange stepped forward calmly. "Not to fear. Ghost Rider is on our side. As long as you don't do anything stupid, no harm should befall you."

"Yeah, right! He attacked us last night, dudes! My skin still burns, but I can't see no scars!" Beast Boy cried out.

Wolverine let out a growl. "That's not the only scar you're gonna have if you keep yapping that mouth of yours."

"That's enough."
