(3) Quite an Adventure

"I don't understand- I thought you were mad at me! Y-You called me stupid!" You had a towel wrapped around your shoulders.

Hunter had navigated you both back to Luz's house, though you were strongly reluctant.

"I.. I know I did. And nothing I say or do will ever justify what I said, but I regret it. We were all upset because of what just happened, which doesn't make it better, but I'm more sorry than I've ever been. You don't have to forgive me-" Luz rambled anxiously, but you cut her off with a hug.

"I get it, and I forgive you." You said sweetly.

She hugged you back, and you heard her begin to cry. You started to as well, trying to hold your tears back.

"Oh, mi hija.." Camila whispered, hugging Luz and you.

Amity walked into the room, saw the sight, and ran to hold Luz.

She joined the group hug, and soon, all of you were crying together.

You heard Hunter's footsteps, and you got just the slightest bit more cheerful.

He noticed the sad hug and stood there awkwardly, shifting his weight between his feet.

You pulled away, and opened your arms to him.

"C'mere blondie," You said.

His ears turned a bit pink, and he walked over to you. He basically engulfed you in a hug, but it felt different than any of the other hugs he'd given you. Or really anyone had given you.

So much emotion was being held in one single embrace, that it was almost overwhelming. But it was perfect, it was what you needed.

Eventually, everybody stopped hugging and just started talking. Camila already knew about The Boiling Isles, so she didn't need that much explaining.

Luz and Amity went over what happened to result in getting stuck in the human realm, and although you had some moments where you wanted to pitch in, you just couldn't handle it.

So instead, Amity and Luz finished explaining while Hunter held you close, one of his arms wrapped around your shoulders.

Some time went by, and none of you did anything. You didn't watch crystal ball- or television or whatever it's called, you didn't talk to each other, you all just sat there and stared into space.

Camila walked in to check on you all, and sighed sympathetically.

"Oh Amity, how was your shower? I hope the water was hot enough, I just did some laundry." She asked.

"Oh, it was fine Mrs. Noceda. Thank you!" You could tell that Amity was forcing cheerfulness in her voice, but it seemed like Camila knew too, so you just listened to the conversation.

"Oh please, call me mom. You are my daughter's girlfriend after all!" She smiled and walked to Amity, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"O-Ok.. thanks mom," She said with surprise.

After Camila left, you looked to Amity. "How come you and Luz took a shower?" You asked curiously, noticing Amity and Luz's wet hair and change of clothes.

"Oh, we got rained on a lot looking for you, and Mrs- I mean... Mom.. said that we could get sick if we left dirty rain water in our clothes." She stuttered a bit, but you were still a little shocked.

You looked at Luz and gave her a small smile, and she returned it kindly.

"WAIT A MINUTE!" You yelled, jumping out of Hunter's hold and standing on your chair.

"YOU GUYS HAVE SOME SORT OF COVEN GUARD SCOUTS THAT ARE THERE TO FIND MISSING PEOPLE! WHY DIDN'T YOU GET THEM?!" You bellowed.

"First, they're called police. Second, because you're a witch. They might think your ears were suspicious, and we didn't want to draw more attention to you, so we hoped you were able to protect yourself. We still looked for you though," Luz said simply, as if it were dead-obvious.

"That's why I reminded you of your ears while you were running," Hunter added with a know-it-all attitude.

"Well, I fell and hit my head like 2 seconds after that, then got kidnapped, then got HARASSED by a creepy old dude, then it started raining and I thought it would burn me to a crisp like on the Isles, so I was absolutely terrified. It was quite the adventure!" You smiled sarcastically at the end, and everyone chuckled a bit.

"I'm sorry, Y/N," Luz mumbled shamefully.

"Stop apologizing, it's alright! I promise I'm not upset." You nodded your head assuringly. Luz smiled and looked away.

"So, out of curiosity, what are the sleeping arrangements?" Luz asked her mom.

"Oh, well.. Vee has been sleeping in your room, so I'm sure you two can share somehow, and I can get an air mattress set up in the floor of your room for Amity. Then maybe a sleeping bag and the couch for you two?" She nodded her head in your and Hunter's direction, and you smiled.

"Yeah! I'll take the sleeping bag. I don't mind," You said simply, shrugging your shoulders.

Hunter jerked his head at you with the most shocked face in the world.

"No you will NOT?? I don't even sleep, so you should get the comfier bed," He argued.

You rolled your eyes playfully and chuckled. "Hunt, I'm getting the sleeping bag, it's not a negotiation," You said, crossing your arms.

"But- But you deserve the couch! I sat on it earlier, it's comfy!!" He desperately yelled, standing up and motioning to the couch.

"I like sleeping bags more! It'll be like we're camping!" You knew he knew about your obsession with camping, considering the last few days, so you pulled this card in hopes of winning this petty argument.

He gasped, seemingly offended by your trick. "I- We- You! Aghhh you. Fine. You can have the sleeping bag. But that couch won't be slept on by anybody tonight!" He sat back down with a pout, and you patted his head teasingly.

You noticed his ears turn pink, and a flustered smile formed on his face.

On the other side of the room, Amity, Luz, and Camila were smirking at the two of you.

"Are they..." Camila whispered to Luz and Amity.

"Nope." Luz replied with disappointment.

They turned their heads back to you both, and saw you now taking pieces of his hair and braiding them, while his face looks like it was dipped in red paint.

"Are you sure?" She asked.

"Honestly, I don't think they even know." Amity said.

"He told me he was going to ask Y/N to be his girlfriend after the fight with Belos, but now I don't know what's gonna happen. I think we're all vulnerable right now, so I just hope he makes the right choice..." Luz said quietly.

"And what would the right choice be?" Camila asked.

"I don't know."
