summer, 2017

two boys were walking their way back home after spending their afternoon on arcades and snacking at the nearest canteen in between matches.

"i think i've seen them before too. a family of four, i think?" the younger boy said, opening a can of soda. "my mom went to their house yesterday and welcomed them to the town."

"but don't you think it's strange? it's been over a week and i rarely see them outside. not to mention the other two, i've never seen them. not once." the other boy stopped to sit when he saw the empty bench. he motions his friend to do the same. "one can only handle this much curiosity at once," he exaggerates.

"well, why don't you approach them first? it's only been a week, maybe they're still adjusting." jeongin suggested.

"not now," jisung shook his head. "i don't have much guts left. i've used it all to talk to him yesterday, remember?"

"i was with you and all you said was a hello," chuckled his friend.

jisung grinned, an idea making its way through him. "say, i could gain all my guts back if you could treat me another slice of that cheese cake."

"nice one," the younger frowned. "but not a chance."

"i tried." he said sheepishly. "i guess i'll have a talk with my lovely neighbors some other time then."

"good luck with that."

"you will come with me, right?"

"what? no." silence. "fine."
