Eddie the promised call from the cops the next morning, after they took his statement, you called Robin and Nancy to see if they also got their calls.
Robin said that she had, that she told them everything that she could, including the fight he tried to pick in the parking lot on a later day. The fact that he got his ass handed to him by a bunch of losers made you smile.
When you dialed for Nancy there was a busy signal so you assumed she was in the middle of her interview.
It was about 3 days until you had to go back to school. 3 days until Monday when you would either see Nick walking the halls as if nothing happened or go back to your normal life. In your own home away from Eddie. Until now, you chose not to think about the fact that you don't actually live with him. That you're just playing house until Nick is in custody.
Don't get it wrong, you missed your parents and the twins, but there would be a definite adjustment period. It was like a waterfall of realization and sadness that you couldn't bear. But you had to because that's life. You had to bear it so that you could work, get an education, and have a life. You couldn't continue to pretend that everything would be like this forever.
You soaked up every little detail about living with Eddie that you could, trying to find flaws that you would be happy not to have to deal with, but there were none. He was perfect, even the half-smoked blunt in the ashtray was a perfect little detail in this perfect little trailer. The morning was slow as you made coffee and breakfast for the both of you, looking through wanted ads for something Ed could apply for.
"Ooh, Ed, this one's perfect!" You said, pointing to an opening in an auto shop.
"I don't know anything about cars, sweetheart." He said.
"You could learn." You said, "Start with cleaning, work your way up to repairs?"
He thinks for a while "That's not half bad." he nudged you "I could save up for a professional tattoo."
"Professional?" You ask. He had plenty of tattoos already.
"Yeah," He said, "Like at a shop with the needle gun and everything."
"You mean to tell me you did all these yourself?" You ask, stunned.
"I don't have tattoo money."
"Well, why don't you apprentice at a shop? These are really good, Ed."
"I looked into it once, but, apprenticeships don't pay."
"Do it on the weekends." You said, "You could apprentice on the weekends and work at the auto shop during the week."
"I don't know, Y/N. That's a lot of work." He said, looking down."How about this, when school's over and there's all the time in the world, try it out? For me?" You give him award-winning puppy-dog eyes.
He rolls his head back and then looks back at you "Ok, I'll try it."
You kiss his cheek "Yay!" Then get up.
"Aw, where you going?" Eddie complains.
You kiss him again "I have to get ready for work and make some more calls."
"As is the life of the working woman" He sighs dramatically "I'll go with you, ask about that job."
"Ok. You shower first, you smell like weed." You say playfully.
"Ooh, ouch." He says, putting both hands over his heart and walking back into the bathroom. He sticks his head out "Do I really?"
You hold your pointer finger and thumb about a centimeter apart and give him a sorry look, mouthing "Little bit."
