Always and Forever (YN x Eddie Munson - Stranger Things S4)

Chapter Twenty-Eight

You and Robin arrived back at the trailer before Steve, this gave you time to give them both a full run-down before having to pull Steve aside and explain what had led up to the hopeful arrest of Nick Smith. 

You told both of them how you plan to get that many signatures while not at the school and not having a job. You had to be a little more than sneaky to get the word out and avoid Nick hearing in case he wanted to pursue more intense legal action against you. In your interview with Officer Callahan, he told you that if the charges were proved false the accuser could be filed against for fraud and defamation. 

When you finished with the bigger details there was a knock at the door. You had been standing in front of Ed and Robin who were sitting on the couch so you walked the few paces to get to the door. 

"Hey," He says after you open the door. He looks worried and confused. 

You usher him in "Hey Steve. I just got done talking to these two." You grab his wrist and drag him into the bedroom. It really was the only place that you could get some privacy in the small trailer. "I have something really important to tell you." 

He goes to speak but you put a finger up to his mouth, silencing him "I just need you to listen for a little while. Please?" 

He nods silently and sits on the bed across from you. You inhale deeply, you weren't feeling completely ready to tell him yet, but needs must and there wasn't any time left to wait. You grab both his hands in your own and look at the floor. Eye contact still isn't your forte. 

"About a month ago," You inhale again. You refused to cry in front of him, not now "Nick Smith attacked me in the school parking lot." You can feel him tense up with anger but he stays silent, respecting what you've asked of him. "I didn't want to have sex with him and Eddie saved me. Then, a week later Nick attacked me again and we got into a physical fight. Well, more like Hellfire beat him up after he bruised my ribs." 

"He WHAT-" Steve starts to stand but you place your hands on his shoulders and push him back down. He closes his mouth and nods, signaling that you can continue without intervention.

You start again "I told the principal and she said I was lying. That's why Eddie and I have been expelled. I have a plan to get Nick arrested. All I need is about 100 people to sign a form and a witness." 

You meet his eyes and before you can say anything more or turn away, he stands up and wraps you in a bear hug. It wasn't like Eddie, it was sadder but equally comforting. 

You stayed there for a while before heading out to the others. Steve sits down in between Eddie and Robin "So, what's the plan?" 

"Well," You say "Robin's going to offer up people to sign it at her job and in school." Robin nods "And Eddie's going to get his Hellfire guys to do the same. After Ed gets to them, we're going to lay low here and wait out the suspension." 

"How do we turn in the papers? What if the cops refuse us?" Robin asks.

"I'm going to call up Nancy, if the cops don't let us file for the arrest she's going to run the story in the school paper. I'm going to find Johnathan Byers, too, see if I can get him to run something in the locals as well." 

"And if he doesn't?" She presses.

"Then no one can stop us from buying ad space, we'll just have to gather up enough money to do it." 

Eddie stands up and snakes an arm around your waist after clapping his hands once "Ok party people, let's get to it!" 

Everyone yells in agreement as Steve and Robin head to their shift at Scoops. Once they're gone Eddie pulls you close, lifting your chin with his fingers and kissing you softly. When he pulls away he rests his forehead against your own, his eyes still closed he whispers "We're going to throw everything we've got at the motherfucker." 

"Everything." You whisper back.

                                                          -~-~-~-~-~ Two Days Later -~-~-~-~-~

"Okay everyone, what's the count looking like?" You ask. You had rallied everyone back up at Eddie's trailer for a check-in. You invited Nancy, Johnathan, and Gareth (From Hellfire) as well, in case more needed to be down. Your goal was to have all the testimonies and signatures in two days so that it would be in the way once you had to head back to school. The suspension ended in three days. 

I have to leave in three days... A voice said.

First up was Steve and Robin "We have almost all the signs we need." Steve says 

"How many?" You ask. 

Robin looks over his shoulder at the piece of paper he was holding "Ummmm 84." 

"That's amazing!" You exclaim, then turn over to Gareth "What about you?" 

He looks nervous as he takes a folded piece of paper out of his front pocket. After a second of looking it over, he dejectedly says "We only got 9." He looks up at you, genuinely sorry "Only Hellfire wanted to sign it. Everyone else was too scared." 

You kneel next to him, placing a hand on his knee "Hey, it's ok. We'll get the other 7 in no time." 

He smiles weakly but doesn't meet your gaze. You stand up and stand in front of all of them once more "Any ideas?" 

Johnathan speaks up, he hasn't talked at all during this whole thing. Except for one time during the beginning when he apologized for taking a picture of you addressing everyone. "What if we sign it?" 

You're confused "What?" 

"We only need 7 more signs, right?" He asks. you nod as he keeps talking "There are 7 people here. If we all just sign it then we'll have enough." 

It hit you like a ton of bricks, looking around you see that no one else really thought of it either, they were too focused on getting other people to sign that they forgot they could, too. Immediately everyone clammers to sign their names and numbers on the form. 

When everyone's done, Eddie's holding the clipboard you had. Looking over it he looks utterly defeated "99 people signed." 

You're disappointed but then you have an idea. "Eddie?" 

"What?" He asks in response.

"Do you have Lucas' number?" 

"Yeah, why." 

"His sister didn't sign. I could just write down her name and his number and that'd be 100!"

He laughs and kisses you again "You're right!" 

You messily scrawl across "Erica Sinclair 8765555309" and slam down the pen triumphantly. 

Everyone gets up and starts yelling in celebration as you fight tears. It's decided that you'll all go for pizza at Papa Ginos.

In the car, you stare out the window with a blank smile on your face.
