Sensitive ears.
For years now, going to school was something she dubbed 'sensory h***'. Ayana would hear almost everything around her as she walked down the halls.
An endless amount of words and noises, all loud, and all constant would spill into her ears.
What's aggravating is that she doesn't mean to hear some of it.
Don't get her wrong, she'd never remember the information she didn't want or need after too long. But what she realizes, very quickly actually, is that having the ability to be quiet as a mouse makes her invisible. And when you're invisible, you hear what people really think.
So it's pretty hilarious to some that Ayana Johnson, one of the smartest girls in any classroom, likes gossip.
A lot.

It was a nice morning at Camp Wawanakwa. Chris hadn't forced the contestants to wake up early; all he did was instruct the campers to follow him.
What none of them expected was to come across wooden bleachers, an empty stage standing before it. Just like the dodgeball challenge, none of the teenagers expected it to be there.
Nonetheless, some were excited about what challenges they'll take part in next.
So Ayana took her seat next to Bridgette in the bleachers. Her Tamarind eyes felt oddly at peace when she caught sight of Tyler catching Lindsay's air kiss.
What made her blood begin to boil was unconsciously moving her head back to the opposite team. Lindsay was smiling nervously at a glaring Heather as if she had just done something she wasn't supposed to do, then crosses her arms behind her back. The mean girl rolls her eyes before she sets them back towards the empty stage, her hair smacking the blond across the face as she does so.
What really made things worse was the sight of Duncan sitting next to Tyler.
Her smile faltered and a blaze of indignation burned furiously in her eyes as she met his blue ones, everything he'd done over the last couple days rocketing back into her mind. The punk was nice during the awake-a-thon, and suddenly he acted like even looking in her direction would spread a disease. Nonetheless, he gives her a look of disgust as they stare at each other, the corner of his mouth hardening just as he looks away from Ayana with contempt.
What the h*** is his problem? What is with him and everyone that not being emotionally involved with things like everybody else is suddenly the worst thing ever?
With a sneer, Ayana crossed her arms and looked back to the empty stage. That jacka** can act like he's not in the wrong all he wants. The fact that he can't help but be overly sensitive over something that's true shouldn't be a problem-
"Welcome...!" The brown girl jumped up at the sound of Chris's voice, her head turning towards the stage to see him standing right in the middle of it with his usual grin. "...to our brand new deluxe state-of-the-art outdoor amphitheater...! This week's challenge is a summer camp favorite...a talent contest!"
"Yes!" Owen screams those words as he stands up, his arms stretched into the air. "Awesome!"
"Each team has eight hours to pick the three most talented campers!" Chris gives out a bright smile as he sees more than a few teenagers chuckle among themselves with glee, a few of your teammates exchanging fist bumps filled with anticipation. "These three will represent the teams in the show tonight. Sing, dance, juggle...anything goes!" The host notices Duncan's lips stretching into a dark grin, the middle-aged man squinting his eyes as he squints at the punk. "As long as it's legal."
