I. was. FUMING. I swear, people only do something if it benefits them. This was obviously benefiting Alex, one way or another. Part of me felt like I overreacted but, at the same time, I didn't care, I really wasn't in the mood to shop anyway. I told my taxi driver my address; I really didn't wanna speak to anyone. People find that weird about me, but I would really just rather be on my own.
I had turned my phone off because people go crazy at me when I don't answer them, and I really could not be arsed. When I eventually did turn it back on, as i had suspected, I had messages from everyone. And I mean, everyone. Basically the entire team had text me, including Jordan. JORDAN?! Why on earth did she feel the need to text me. I didn't have the effort to reply to everyone's text, so I just let them all know, on the group, that I had gone home.Alex had called me about 6000 times but I wasn't about to give her the time of day. Luce told me she asked her if I had gone back to her's which, of course, I hadn't so I assume that's what initiated the worrying from EVERYONE. I also read Leah's message...
Leah❤️
Hey, you okay? What happened with you and Alex? Let me know if you need anything :)
...Yeah I should probs change the name.
I didn't reply.About 10 minutes after I sat down, a car pulled up outside my house. I thought it might be Alex to come and apologise: I was wrong. It was Leah.
I opened the door to her ready to unlock it. She still had a key from when we were together. I laughed and moved aside so she could come in. She was wearing an outfit I once told her was 'my favourite'. She 100% did that on purpose, because when we got home the night I said that, we had the best sex EVER. I got to rip her clothes off, which she obviously loved. Anyway, I'm getting distracted...
She walked through to the kitchen and made herself comfortable on one of the spinny chairs. I held up a glass, asking if she wanted a drink.
'Gin & Tonic if you're making.' She said, as casually as you can possibly ask for an alcoholic drink, whilst recovering from a hangover.
'I mean I wasn't gonna, but coming right up.'
I said that as if it was hard to make a Gin & Tonic: I just got the stuff out of the fridge and poured some in a glass.
'You went MIA.' Leah stated, sipping her drink.
'I went home.' She raised an eyebrow. 'People piss me off, I wasn't in the mood to shop.'
'So you just stormed out? That's not like you.' She laughed. I just rolled my eyes. 'Seriously though, what happened. You wouldn't do that because you "weren't in the mood". Did she say something?' Leah continued. She knows me too well.
I shook my head and sighed. 'She asked if you were jealous, I suggested she was doing it to MAKE you jealous, she said nothing, so I stormed out...after telling her "you're all the same".' Leah shook her head at me.
'You're a liability, you know that, right?'
I smiled, slightly.
'Come here.' Leah hugged me. 'If she doesn't want you, she's crazy.' She pulled out of the hug, so our lips were almost touching. She looked from my eyes to my lips, and I thought we were about to kiss before...
'MADDEN! ARE YOU IN I...' It was Alex. Brilliant. JUST what I needed. Leah pulled away quickly, before Alex reached the kitchen. 'Hey, listen I- oh, am I interrupting something?' She asked, raising an eyebrow. She seemed jealous, I liked it.
I looked at Leah, who shook her head. 'Not at all, I was just leaving.' She turned and smiled at me. 'I'll see you later rynny.' I smiled back, before I felt my face drop as she walked off, but I tried to hide it.
Alex came and stood next to me, 'Hey, I'm sorry. You caught me off guard, I'm not just trying to make Williamson jealous. I genuinely enjoy your company- well, actually, you're really annoying sometimes...I guess you're okay.' I shook my head and laugher, before offering her a drink. She nodded and, just then, the door slammed. Leah had only just left? Does that mean she heard what Alex said? I shrugged, and told myself I would text her in the morning.
Alex and I didn't do much for the rest of the night. We watched movies, she fell asleep in my arms a couple times but, other than that, we just talked. Surprisingly, she didn't ask me for sex. That either means the first time it was shit, or she actually wants to spend time with me. Now, I know it wasn't the first option, so I was truly flattered.
It got to around 9pm and Alex was asleep, again, but I needed the toilet. I went quickly, and by the time I got back, Alex was awake.
'Your phone rang by the way.' I tilted my head and looked at her, as if to ask who. 'It said G'. Why the hell was Georgia calling me at this time? I called her back.
'G, hey, what's...'
'Mads, please don't panick, I need you to come to the hospital, Leah's been in an accident.' My face dropped, I could feel myself tearing up. I hung up the phone, grabbed my car keys and ran to the door.
'Where are you going?' Alex asked
'Nowhere.' I replied before swinging the door open.
'I'm coming with you.'
'I don't care.' She rolled her eyes before following me out of the door.I made the journey quick and simple, I didn't speak a single word to Alex, she tried to figure out where we were going, seeing as she couldn't get anything out of me, but she isn't the best at navigating around London. When she realised where we were going, she turned to me, shocked. 'What happened?' I looked at her, before getting out of the car without saying a thing. I was speechless. All I could think about was finding Leah. If I had replied, she most likely wouldn't have come over, and she wouldn't have been in this situation. This was all my fault.
I ran around the hospital like a sociopath for about 5 minutes before finding Leah. She had wires attached to her and bruises all over her body. I began to tear up. Alex followed me into the room, and realised why we were here. She left the room almost instantly after. I really didn't have time for her right now. I sat next to Leah and squeezed her hand. She looked so vulnerable and I hated it. All I wanted to do was protect her.
I sat with her for a while, nurses came and went, giving me updates. She was still asleep and I was beginning to worry. I was told she would be okay, but I suppose when it's someone you care about in that position, you can't help but feel overwhelmed. I still hadn't seen Alex, but at that moment, I didn't care.
Eventually, she woke up, and groaned. I stood up next to her, it was just us two in the room. She looked up at me and smiled, 'Heyyyyy.'
I shook my head, 'You've had way too much morphine.' We both started to laugh. Just then Alex came in.
'Oh, hey. How are you coping?' She asked Leah. She didn't make eye contact with me at first.
'Barely.' They exchanged a smile, before Alex turned to me. 'I got you coffee.' I nodded, gratefully. After a couple minutes, Leah's doctor walked in.
'Good evening, how are you feeling, Leah?' They're so formal aren't they, doctors. Like i know it's their job and all but they could loosen up a bit...just saying.
'I'm doing better. Physically in some pain, but mentally I'm...good.' She turned to look at me and smiled sadly.
'Wonderful. Oh, I'm sorry, my name is Dr. Grey.' She held her hand out to me first, then to Alex. 'Soooo, are you the...girlfriend?'
'Ex.' Leah and I said in unison, both following through with an awkward smile.
'I see, well, Leah hasn't suffered and major injuries, thankfully, so she should be okay to go tomorrow morning. We would like her to stay for the rest of the night just so we can keep an eye.' I wanted to be a doctor at one point in my life. Then I remember how long it took to train to be one: NO THANK YOU!
'Thank you Dr Grey.'
'Great.' There was an awkward silence for a minute. 'It's crazy, I know you guys.' She smiled at us, clearly just trying to make conversation. 'I'm just gonna...' She pointed towsrds to door awkwardly. We all nodded, before Dr. Grey quickly excused herself from the room.
I turned back to look at Leah. 'Shame. I thought I was gonna get away with not seeing you for a while.' We both laughed.
'Al...' I looked at Alex. 'Do you mind if I stay here with Leah tonight? I don't want her to be alone.' I asked, hoping she wouldn't hate me.
'Of course not.' She hugged me. 'I'll speak to you in the morning,' then she turned to Leah, 'feel better soon.' She smiled at the both of us and left the room.
Leah waited until she was gone to speak, 'She's cute.' I turned to glare at her. I knew she was being (mostly) serious: She just wanted me to be happy, and the same went for her.
I wanted to stay mad at her for what she did, but I know she didn't mean it, and although the feelings are obviously still there for both of us, what's the harm in being just friends?
