Meeting America

I didn't wake up until 11 am, but Leah was still asleep, so I slid out of bed, and jumped into the shower, to freshen myself up. I completed my daily routine, before walking back into my room with just a towel around me. Leah was awake now. 'Morning sunshine,' she said, 'What time did we get back?'. I shrugged.
I started to get dressed and Leah awkwardly looked away. 'You've seen me naked before, it's nothing new, you don't have to pretend not to look.' I laughed. Leah laughed too, 'I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable.' I smirked. After checking my phone I realised all the girls had wondered where we had gone, so I put a message on the group chat, to let them know I took Leah home, they didn't need to know we spent the night together...it wasn't important. Leah got out of bed and took a shower while I made breakfast. My phone started ringing. It was Kristie, she plays for the USWNT, and is one of my best friends:
'Yo, guess what.' she said, as I picked up the phone.
'What's up mate.'
'We're coming to watch your session today.'
I smiled, 'WOOOOO, I haven't seen you in forever! Wait...we?'
'Our whole team, thought we would come and see you, as we missed your birthday yesterday: Sorry about that by the way.'
I laughed, 'Hey, it's no problem, see you in an hour.' I hung up the phone.

We arrived at the training ground, and all huddled round to listen to sarina talk. 'As some of you may know, the USWNT are going to be watching our session today...' Almost on queue, the entire team walked out from the club house. Kristie ran out from the crowd and jumped on me. I grabbed her legs and we hugged. 'I'VE MISSED YOU RYN!' She shouted. I laughed and she jumped off, 'I've missed you too Mewy.' I turned from her to the rest of the squad. I hugged Tobin, Christen, Megan, Ash, Julie, Rose, Sam, Mal and Lindsey in turn. I was quite close with most of their team. I saw one person who seemed particularly quiet, before realising who it was: Alex Morgan. One of the best strikers the USWNT has ever seen, and in the world at the moment. We made eye contact for a short while, before Rose distracted me asking about my birthday. We talking for a few minutes, before Sarina announced we needed to begin training. The USWNT sat by our sub benches and watched intently. We began with some drills. I couldn't help but notice Alex watching me throughout the whole of the session. Leah also noticed this, and seemed cautious. As the session continued, Sarina decided we should play and 11 v 11, with our starting teams. Aftee a short break, we all ran back on to the pitch, ready to start the game.
The game began, and level of play was high, consisering it was only a training session. I remembered it was a rivalry, and it was a given for everyone to be competitive as our teams played each other. Meado played a cross into me, and I headed it into the back of the next. Alyssa had just missed the ball. Morgan did not look happy. Shortly after, Rose played a ball into pinoe, who passed across goal to Alex, and she finished with her right foot. The game finished 2-2, as Alex and I had both scored another goal each. We all shook hands. When I reached Alex I said, 'Well played'. She smiled hesitantly, before returning a friendly 'You too'. I smirked back. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Leah glancing over. She looked upset. I let the moment pass, and thought best to leave her to it.
Before leaving the ground, Sarina and Jill had us gather round, so we could all thank each other for the game. I exchanged numbers with some of the USWNT players I had met today, including Alex.
Just as I was leaving, I heard a voice behind me, 'Kieryn!' It was the USWNT coach.
'What's up Jill?' I replied, wondering what she wanted to speak to me about.
'I really see some potential in you as a player, despite being very young (18). I know you have your loyalties to the Lionesses, but you should come and visit us some time, and watch one of our sessions maybe. You don't have to answer now, but have a think.'
'Thank you, it was lovely to meet you.' I smiled and took a card she handed me, with the address of their training ground on it. She smiled back, before walking away with the rest of the team. I noticed Alex glance back at me, and give a subtle smile. I smiled back, and Kristie nudged Alex's arm before looking back at me and winking. I shook my head while laughing.
Today was good preparation for the friendly we had against USA coming up. I was looking forward to it, after today. Whether it was because of the game, or the player, I wasn't sure, but I would soon find out.

I arrived at Heathrow airport, alone, ready to fligh out to America. I was going to stay with Kristie for a while, and more importantly, I was going to watch one of her training sessions.
Kristie and her girlfriend, Sam Kerr, met me at the airport, and I hugged them both. Sam and I met through Kristie, and have been close friends ever since.
Sam drove us back to their house, and we sat and chatted for a while. There were two people in particular who were hot topics in our conversation: Leah and Alex. I hadn't told them about the full story with Leah, and Kristie couldn't help but notice some chemistry between Alex and I. Sam agreed, based on what Kristie had told her. 'You should ask her out.' Sam suggested, grabbing a few pringles from the tub. Kristie took some too, 'OMG YES!' she shouted, 'that's such a good idea. You definitely should. You have her number don't you.' I smirked, and pulled out my phone, before saying, 'You sure she isn't straight?'
'After meeting you? No chance.' Sam said, 'If I was straight, you would be my gay awakening. No offence babe.' she turned to Kristie.
Mewis laughed it off, 'I was thinking the same think.' They both laughed.
'Appreciate it gals.' I laughed too. I found Alex in my contacts and sent her a text:
'Hey, it's Kieryn, I'm in LA at the moment, and was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime? Let me know ;)'
'That is perfect.' Sam and Kristie said together.

After 10 minutes, my phone went off. It was Alex:
'Hey Kieryn, it was great meeting you the other day. I would love to go out some time, are you free tomorrow night?'
Kristie screamed and Sam smiled.
Kristie said 'You are defo free tomorrow, reply now!' Sam nodded agreeingly.
I replied:
'I am! I'll pick you up at 7?'
Alex:
'Perfect, see you then ;)'
Alex gave me her address, and Kristie and Sam hugged me.
'I'm so excited for you mate!' Sam said. I smiled at her, appreciatively.
I was excited to go out with Alex, but I couldn't help but wondering what Leah would think...
